Hello everyone, I am new here and new to photography.

This seems like the place to be and from what I have read and seen its the only place to be for inspiration and advice.

I have posted some photos in the gallery it was my first go with colour.
But I really will be getting in to B&W I have played around for about the last 2 years, only understanding little but enough to make the odd good mistake.

But I feel I am now getting a better understanding of things and hope with the help here I should be able to grow.

Welcome, Paul. This is indeed a great place for beginners. Ask all your questions and don't be shy. It is quite rare here for anyone to take it out on a beginner just for asking a question. The breadth of knowledge in this community is amazing.
