Hello everyone.....

Just introducing myself to this huge forum and community....there is so much reading I need to do....

I joined because I really need some guidance and resources on shooting with film. I recently purchased a canon t2 to get me started and yesterday I went to my local pharmacy to get CR2 batteries (ouch super expensive) and a roll of 35mm film.

I've owned a DSLR for about 2.5 years now; its been a great way to learn the ins and outs of using manual controls. I usually shoot in manual all the time now.

I feel its time to move onto something less forgiving such as film. And what I mean is no instant gratification which obviously requires a little more thought before just blindly hitting the shutter and hoping for the best.

I do record music as another hobby and there is no way in hell you can beat analog devices for certain applications. The warmth of real tubes and real amplifiers vs. plugins and simulators is no contest in my opinion.

This is another reason I want to use film. Sure digital is great for alot of things but I'm sure film still kicks its ass when it comes to retaining the analog vibe.

Anyways enough rambling..... and thanks for reading

Hello from Texas. We're in a big state and apuggers are scattered all over.

Welcome to Filmland. It's so big, you'd think it was from Texas too.

Howdy from the heart of the Pa. wilds, I used to live just outside Austin, my wife's from Temple. You have come to the best place on the planet(if not the solar system)to learn about film.

Welcome to APUG, and have fun with your film camera.

OK, I know what part of Texas you're in now.

Film: Kodak, Fuji, Ilford.
Stores: Freestyle, B&H.

Adorama has good prices as well. If you're shooting 35mm and are a beginner, try the Arista 100 and 400 from Freestyle. It's dirt cheap so use the saved dev costs to buy a home developing kit and some chemistry.

Thanks everyone....so far I cant get over the look of film its just so much more raw and organic. It also takes me back to when I was a kid....I actually remembered what film exposures look like... I think I'm hooked! haha

Welcome!

Wait, you come from TEXAS?? Did I hear that right? Why, only 2 things come from Texas, son!
