Hi everyone!

I'm a student from Singapore, and I only got into the whole business of film a few months back. My dad wishes that all film would run out though, since he thinks anyone who's shooting with film is going the wrong way.

I was lucky enough to get my 350D in 2006, and it helped me hone the basics of exposure, composition and the like. After sadly leaving it in a classroom (together with some lenses from the school's photo club) and forgetting to retrieve it, I was stuck with no camera for a good part of this year.

The seniors at my photo club were all shooting film, and that was what got me interested. It was unbelievable that while discussing film with my buddies at a shopping center, an old man offered to give me his film camera.

Turned out to be a Nikon FE in near-mint condition, and I've never looked back to digital since. I've tried a few rolls of 120 with my granddad's Shanghai TLR, but the FE is what I shoot with now.

I'm still experimenting with the different films. It's great to find a place where everyone loves their film, and I hope to learn much from this wonderful community.

Would definitely love to know other Singaporean or Asian members here on APUG too!

Selamat datang!

Welcome from a Canadian living in the States, but of Indonesian heritage!

Hehehe ... chendol - great name. For those APUGers that don't know what that is - it's a a South East Asian drink made with gelatinous spheres in coconut juice. Very delish.

Regards, Art.

Welcome from England.

Steve.

Hello from Richmond Va. Film is not going anywhere soon! If using film is going the wrong way, I guess we're all of us are going the wrong way!

Jeff

Welcome Chendol, to APUG. I love my FE too (in fact, I have two!)

Welcome to the group. And if this is wrong then I don't wanna be right.

Welcome to APUG from western Massachusetts USA. I enjoy going the wrong way!! :D

Welcome, from the southwestern corner of British Columbia, Canada.

Matt

Thanks everyone for the welcomes. :D

It's great that someone knows what chendol actually is, and yes, it's one of the best desserts I've ever tasted. Except that my friends comment that chendol looks like green worms.

How sad that the lab lost my first roll of slides, a Velvia 50. Now my dad is laughing at the whole film shoot-develop-print process.

Yup, I think I'll enjoy myself here tremendously.

Hey there, welcome from Singapore!!

I've been here for a month and I love it. You will love it too.

Hello there Mr.Sweet Green Worms.
I hope to see some photos soon.
Hang in there. Film is hard, in all respects, but very rewarding.
You are lucky you have some people to relate to.

Maybe I should mention that I passed by Singapore on my last trip to China, but since I only saw the airport (in all its detail, stuck for hours), it doesn't really count.

Hello from SE WI. Yes, some people are negative, at APUG, we tend to be positive about film.

Salamat Datang! You live in a beautiful city with lots of photo opportunities, so don't fret one lost roll.
