Hello there!
My name is Nicholai, as my username implies.

I got into analog photography when i realized my OM-10/50:1.8 made better shots than my EOS 5D/50:1.4 - at 1/20th the price. I then over time acquired way too much gear. I still do that. I mainly shoot 35mm with OM-20 fitted with the standard 50:1.8 or a 28:2.8, and i shoot 120 on my Mamiya RB 67 ProS either with the 127mm or 50mm. I guess these focal lengths are roughly equal. I just like it.
I also have oddball cameras and i guess i have a small Diana collection too.

I want to get into alternative photography, but there are no suppliers here, and i'm trying to make an overview of where i can get it cheapest in other EU countries, as shipping is adding almost 50% of the value.

Hope y'alls having a good time!

Cheers

welcome Nicolai.

What alternative processes are you talking about?

As you can see on my avatar, I am also from Dk - have access to many alternative printing processes...

Cyanotypes, vandykes and the likes.

I've seen your website quite a few times and i'm very impressed!
Let's talk over private messages!

Welcome to APUG, Nicholai. I'm a fan of Gandolfi too.

Hallo Nicholai,
have you considered driving to Germany (Lubeck, Kiel, Hamburg, Rostock) and making a large purchase to freeze?
Yes gasoline costs but one can take two pigeons, make some tourism and also do some photographic shopping.

Germany used to have very good prices for photographic goods. I bought in Lubeck the lens I use the most, in 1986 or so.

Danish taxes are one of the highest rate in the world and if they find you carrying expensive German goods , it would not be fun.

While i'm sure those of you with the benefit of an automobile will have an easy trip to germany, i do not have a drivers license, and my bicycles will only take me as far as my lazyness allows.
Allthough i am by this point allmost certain i will make an internet order from a german or english eStore, i am still looking into where i will do that.

Thanks for all the welcomes!

Denmark belongs to the European Union and undersigned the treaties (known I think as the Maastricht treaty with modifications) allowing goods to move freely within the Union. If there is no special excise tax for chemicals in Denmark, I don't think there is any problem.

I can buy any good in the EU and bring it home without paying any VAT differential or whatever.

I did order my C-41 kit in Germany, delivered to my door without any Customs document.

Unless you live in Norway and are planning to buy E6 chems, in that case (there was a url link here which no longer exists)

- but yes, everything can freely move in the european union. If i buy overseas, from non-eu countries, i get charged a lot tho. 30$ + 25% of the value of the goods, and another variable percentage depending on the type of goods.

Nicholai- hello and welcome to APUG!! :D
