I'm a downstater, have been doing photography as a hobby for a while now. Been mostly using digital SLR stuff, but I am wanting to get into film. I remember using film as a kid, and it was immense fun, even with a crappy plastic point and shoot. (I think my parents still have it, I'll have to find it!) Anyway, I have a Pentax K1000, quite an early model, with a good set of lenses. I plan on doing some of my own developing, probably do mostly B&W, maybe a little color. This site was mentioned by a youtuber showing a demo of developing some 120 B&W, and it was entertaining and informative, so I figured I would check this place out.

Welcome to APUG, from the south-west coast of British Columbia, Canada.

I think you will enjoy it here.

Welcome to APUG!
I'm not far, in Sullivan.

It's good to see some Illinois guys here. What do you guys shoot for landscapes around here? This flatland seems dead sometimes.

Hello from west michigan! nice to see you here.

Greetings!!! Gotta love DIY b&w - i'm a n00b with it as well, but it's great fun. Film photography has that extra "something" to it - sorta like reading an actual, physical in-print book (contrasted with an electonic/e-book).

Oh yeah, i'm from West Michigan also though currently in snowy Sarajevo, Bosnia.

dhek - where are you from? I'm 'based' out of Spring Lake.

Good Morning, Trevis,

Welcome from southwestern Illinois, just across the river from St. Louis.

Welcome aboard from foggy, cloudy Tazewell County, Illinois!

As for landscapes, the area around Starved Rock and Matthiessen State parks is pretty scenic. So is Southern Illinois once you get south of Carbondale.

ME Super

Thanks, all. Anyone got any links for tips for developing C-41 B&W? I know it's going to be a little odd because of the backing color, and I'll likely switch to something clear, but I'm using up some old film.

Edit are you looking to do color c41 as bw?

I'm down in S. ILL. Glad to have new voices in the forum.

All the best-

Welcome. Im from western central indiana.

No, I have 6 or so rolls of BW400CN, and they haven't been stored the best, so I figure it's worth experimenting with. Then once I get some fresh stuff, I can do the developing a little more confidently.

Welcome to APUG. I grew up in Christian County.

Welcome to APUG

I've spent a number of weeks in Decatur. If I never return; nor smell a single soy bean roasting, it'll be too soon!

Now, Peoria is a city I could get to love.

That soybean smell is quite a special thing, isn't it?

I don't particularly care for Decatur or Peoria. Now Bloomington and Normal, OTOH, are pretty nice.

Hello and welcome to APUG from western Massachusetts! :D
