Just read the kickstarter update. What a saga! Still rooting for success and hope there will be a documentary film about it. When the first rolls of film are shipped it will all be worth it!

yes a 6 month setback must be discouraging for them, along with missing an expiry date on a batch of materials that they had made up. (Did not say if it is scrap or can be reprocessed also if it included Silver)

Yes i think there will be! (shot on Ferrania film stock of course

Anyway i know it must be so frustrating for them, but at least they have put everything in place for film production in the future so we know that moving forward that things will only be better.

Anyway as far as steam production goes, im interested to know what sort of machinery runs from it if Dave is able to answer this, ill be interested to know.

I'm sure they'll get there in the end, despite all these unforeseeable problems, and I'll look forward to being a Ferrania user again....I can just remember my Dad home-processing Ferraniacolor in the 1960's and it certainly wasn't a bad film for its time, sort of soft plummy colours, but pleasing. I have a few of his best slides, which, even after about 50 years, still produce reasonable prints with scanning and a bit of careful "restoration" of the colours and contrast.

We really appreciate the positivity and understanding that everyone has shown.

The pieces are truly in place and as I'm sure many of you already know, there is a very complex, yet very linear path we must take in order for production to begin. The domino metaphor couldn't be more apt.

Fortunately, the big chiller created a gap in the dominos and stopped the process cold. (couldn't resist)

The team will return to a factory that is now self-powered with new equipment in place (ahead of schedule!), a clean coater, and far less potential for further delays.

By the way, kudos to APUG for this thread which is now approaching 100 pages!

I've been constantly impressed by the communications from Film Ferrania. Although I'd like more frequent updates, I completely understand that you're all busy doing other things! Thank you for keeping us all up-to-date with the trials and tribulations. Best of luck moving forward - I have full confidence that you'll get there soon, and the wait will be totally worth it. Fabulous project, keep it up!

Thanks Dave!

Concerning the frequency of communication, we've wanted to avoid the simple "Hi - we're still working!" type of updates and instead use each opportunity to share real, in-depth information. Over the last four months, I've written at least 10 updates that had to be scrapped. As soon as I would get everything ready, and email our founder for the final signoff, something would change that either made the update moot, or in need of additional info before it could be shared.

Now we face a summer where there is little to do until the chiller is installed. So be warned that there won't be much to say until then...

I'll be around. I've got this thread in a pinned tab and I check it daily. If you have any questions, let me know.

Here's what I can say about that...

The day you see our logo at the bottom of the page among the other APUG Partners, that will be our official "coming out" moment.

Another question for Dave,
If i read it correctly, does this mean that there will be a new highway going right through the middle of the ferrania campus?

I'm unclear about whether it's a highway or more of a two-lane affair, and it's hard to say "through the middle of the campus" because there isn't much campus left.

If you look at this map (https://goo.gl/maps/wHtSP) you can see the existing road stops short of E117 and this is the connection that is being made.

So most of the work is going on very much apart from the LRF, which is the small square building that sits along the forked road that extends to the southeast, near the bend in the river.

Yes, that seems logical looking at that image.

The LRF building is very small indeed compared to the rest of the complex.
Something else i was going to ask is if all the demolition of the big boy buildings etc has been completed?
Im interested to see any photos/videos of the demolition and of the parts of big boy that were recovered, but i understand you are all busy and is the last thing you need to deal with, but there is probably not much more news for us until the new chiller arrives anyway.

Dave, you guys are now officially our last 400 hope, after your 100. And I'm pretty sure their 100 is a dead man walking.

Go Ferrania, Go Italia, Go chilling unit...
