Not at all, such an old-time film and all ciné film is best processed with uninterrupted agitation. The gelatines are not hardened or perhaps only a little and thicker. This calls for a constant flow of liquid across the surfaces.
A nice review from Emulsive of the P30:

Even if an 80ISO film is not generally my choice, I can't wait to test some!
Thanks for the explanation, but still... Fomapan is not hardened and doesn't call for continuous agitation. Maybe it's because of the thicker coating, as you said.
Flavio, I would phrase that just a tad differently now, expanding on what you quote.
I will refer to what I have learned from (i think it was) Saint Mowrey, the patron saint of Photo Engineering school. He said that for best resolution, development should have continous agitation.
indeed, and D76, 20C, ASA 80, 7 minutes with inversion every minute for the first 10 minutes? I guess you dump the tank and keep inverting?

A Jobo gives continuous agitation (for all practical purposes) and I get best results with a Jobo in all conditions, and thus continuous agitation seems to be the best. This has been tested with both color and B&W films.
However, I have no proof that Fomapan is unhardened.
And thanks for the plug.
PE
Well... If you're saying, and judging by the source, I wouldn't disagree. PE is PE and you are a Flavio, so I know what to expect.
Cheers,
The Other Flavio
I always thought that if I performed continuous agitation with HC-110, my film would explode.
(Stupidly, I keep clicking on this thread thinking there might be real information about Ferrania's progress.)
very good Flavio!! you forgot that P30 cures what your headache too!!So much kindness and friendliness!! These are the effects of Ferrania P30, the only film able to pacify this thread. With Ferrania P30, each frame is a piece of jewerly.
P30 pacifies internet forums.
P30 makes pros sell their full frame DSLRs and replace them with Argus C3s.
Freeze any decisive moment, even with your pinhole camera, by pushing P30 to ISO 100,000 (1hr development time in straight D76, continuous agitation)... while retaining full shadow detail!!
Load P30 in your Kodak Disc camera and get results rivaling 8x10" large format cameras. (Your Disc camera also gets tilt and shift movements for free with P30)
P30 cures all ills.
P30 divides by zero.
P30 is able to bully Chuck Norris into submission.
P30 substitutes for Technical Pan, Verichrome Pan, Panatomic-X., PKM 25 and Ektar 25.. at the same time!
Moreover, P30 compensates for lack of talent in your pictures. Legend says that Federico Fellini was seen as a second rate filmmaker in Italy, doing basically italian versions of "Plan 9 from outer space" and "It conquered the world", until his trusty camera man Antani suggested him to try Ferrania P30 movie film. After looking at the wonderful, stark deep tones of the dailies, Fellini discarded his plans for an adult version of "Snow white and the 7 dwarfs" and instead got the inspiration for "8 1/2".
The rest, as they say, is history.

Ai,ai!the world of analog

Uh...you know someone who'd trade a DSLR for a C3? I've got a spare C3 that I'd trade down for. It won't focus to infinity but who needs infinity? I'll throw in a roll of expired HP5+ we all know expired film gives a more artistic result...

What about the E6 product, any news at all? I hope they stay solvent. If that means making black and white film for a while so be it.
Mike
that is the right attitude! Can't wait the news!In order to avoid any more foot-in-mouth issues regarding E6, we will update everyone when we are sure about the 90% mentioned above
