I tried to buy as soon as I received the e-mail (from Maco, with no notification from Ferrania....) and it was already out-of-stock. I'm sorry, but it really is time now that Ferrania got their act together if they want to ever be accepted as a serious supplier of quality products. I fully accept all their unforeseen problems, I've read every one of their updates, but while ever I can freely buy a good selection of quality B&W films from Ilford, Kodak, Adox and Foma, delivered in 2-3 days, why should I waste time and money elsewhere ?

Hmmmm, ... Perhaps it may not have come directly from Ferrania! Or for some reason a mistake with stock at Macro, or in shipping! Hang tight...

I completely understand your frustration. For me it is currently an low availability experimental film stock. I am very glad that it exists.

We also do not know exactly how much of it becomes available at time because it is very likely that all the subscribers will quickly hoard that limited quantity.

AFAIK, the E6 bleach is stronger than the C41 bleach as it must deal with more Silver. However, C41 has problems associated with DIR byproducts, so there are some special addenda in that bleach.

That must have been a glitch of some kind. Unless they found a few rolls in the warehouse after taking inventory...

I think hazardous materials restrictions are mainly a US or Canadian problem. The EU seems to be more tolerant toward this kind of substances in small packages.

EDIT: I see the problem only relates to air shipping. There is no air shipping need within the EU. Maybe restrictions are in place, and chemicals are delivered entirely through surface means. In any case, for chemical substances, "shipping" (with ships) to the Americas is just as effective as air shipping. I don't see a real problem.

A few years ago, maybe 6-8 years ago, the EU regulations on road transportation of liquid chemicals certainly changed because the prices of any container over 1l of the most common acids that school laboratories use shot up due to the EU-wide hazardous materials transport cost. There was an EU directive on "inland transport" of dangerous goods which came in then, mandating extra transport charges for even pretty common chemicals.

Another great decision by the EU commission....instead of buying two winchesters of acid, I have to buy five 1 litre bottles.....much safer (rolls eyes).

This might have an effect on the cost of postage for photo chemical kids, especially if bottles of greater capacity than 1l are involved.....also retailers might just be put off from offering liquid kits in the post due to the regulations.

You can ship pretty much anything, it just get more complicated and expensive the more hazardous it is. Most retailers don't want to get involved in shipping hazardous materials because of the cost and risk. The fines for improperly shipping hazardous materials can get very costly.

Not to mention, that the recipient is required in some places to prove that they have had Haz-Mat training.

OH and some Photochemicals are also ingredients to make illegal substances.

In the US anyone can receive hazardous materials. I get them all the time at work and I have no training at all in shipment.

BTW The EU directive on inland transport of dangerous goods is also why these days we are asked at the post office what's in any parcel.

Trying to explain that the vintage camera lens I've just sold on eBay doesn't contain any batteries ("but you said it was a camera") and isn't in any way "dangerous goods" can get tedious. A lot of previously safe items were prohibited from being posted in the mail throughout the EU with that directive.

The latter sounds plausible. I ordered immediately on receiving the email, and my five P30 rolls arrived safely a few days ago.

I read, "100 rolls every day of the week, week after week"...

I presume you mean bulk rolls. What does that translate to in say 35mm x 36 exp. equivalents?
