I found the 28 frameline of the M6 was really hard to use/see. However since you will need a finder for your LTM cameras you can use if desired on the M6. Several finders to choose from,

Clean, non flaring Orion 15 works flawlessly on Leica. Way sharper and quality image lens than this old Leitz 28/6 junk. And Canon 28 2.8 LTM is fine. I have seen Winogrand's prints from this lens.
Avenon 35 3.5 is also OK lens.

I have a Hektor 28/6.3 (DAG serviced), a W-Nikkor 2.8 cm f/3.5, and a Konica-Hexanon-M 28/2.8 (or similar name). The Hector easily outperforms the W-Nikkor regarding contrast and center sharpness. The Konica is a class whole class above. I like the size of the Hector, makes for a small package when combined with a coll. lens.

The unsharpness at the lower part of the photo is of course due to the speed of the car and not lens faults.

Hyss, sellers must be reading your post. The only inexpensive ones on Ebay come from Russia or the Ukraine, and I've had bad luck with those. The Japanese, on the other hand, are asking lots of money for them.

Buy the cheaper one. That is the Hektor.
You will always end up making a profit.

With the russian and japanese stuff, not so much.

I guess one needs to ask oneself why you are buying the lens. For the photos it can make, or for the return on your investment 10 years from now.
A decent Orion 15 is a much better lens than a decent Hektor.

What;s the difference in price between the Orion and the Hektor? $800?

Hmmm, how about buying the better lens - the Orion - and putting that $800 in the stock market. Wonder what would be the better move 10 years from now?

I bought mine from Ukraine and it has been superb. But stuff happens, and I also no longer buy gear from Japan. They have become as unreliable as any other place,
Fedka.com is an excellent local seller. He may have one. I've bought other gear from him before.

Why is the orion better? Just because you say so?
And what if you lose the 800$ in the stock market?

This does not make sense. The Hector is the cheaper lens? And with Russian (by which, you really mean Soviet) and Japanese stuff, you don't make a profit? What about photography?

Suggesting a Orion, just because it’s cheaper (I doubt it is better), doesn’t make sense either. And while we’re in the cheaper department, I believe the Hektor ends up being the cheaper option. Net worth decides what is ultimately cheaper.

I am pretty sure Huss said that his Orion was demonstrably BETTER than his Hector. And also much less expensive.
No need to get your panties in a bunch- I think we all know there are sample variations, especially with old lenses. But I’m getting an Orion.

Exactly. But as always NB doesn't get it.

Has he used both lenses? Wild guess... no.

I love Leica glass, but not the 28 Hektor.
Fedka has an Orion right now, and if it is not a good copy, just send it back.

Don’t worry for NB23, guys. He gets everything. It’s not like Huss comes up with highly intelligent premises.
Praising russian lenses, holgas, making a sport out of using cheap stuff... am I supposed to be impressed?

I use the fotodiox ltm-m adapters. I also have original ones from Leica and Voigtlander, the only practical difference is the price.
I don't recommend buying them off Amazon though. The seller there twice shipped completely random adapters! Once for a Nikon v1, the other time for Canon EOS. When I had paid for LTM-M!
Funny thing is on the box, they had placed an LTM sticker OVER the Nikon and Canon stickers!

I got mine here:

Are you blind? Or just a Leitz collector. Those are also blind.

You are totally right.

Above all else I am into “I only live once” mode. And I like to combine a velvety lifestyle to my ideologies. This means that I will always prefer an expensive Summilux over a cheap alternative even though both are equal in one department (but not on ALL departments). And in the end, my expensive stuff seems to pay off itself.

Believe it or not, you have won the NB23 postcard sweepstake. If you want a nice postcard of my work please PM/DM an address where I can send it to.

Huss, the resale value of anything absolutely matters because it defines the cost of ownership. A $1,000 lens which you can sell two years from now for $1,100 is basically free, even accounting for inflation. The cost of acquisition is irrelevant. That's why I like Leica/Hasselblad from the financial perspective: it's basically free quality gear..

Gregg. I paid $175 for my Orion 2 years ago. It is now worth $300. And the prices are climbing.
I think I'm getting a pretty good return for the better lens!
