Hello everyone,

It's great to be here! I'm a photographer and and artist and as I was researching photographers for my daily blog I noticed that a lot of the great masters had used a medium (Rolleiflex mostly) or even large format cameras. I had only used a 35 mm TLR years ago and was now shooting with a Canon 50D with has a cropped sensor.

Not having a lot of money, I wanted to get one of those little magical boxes and get stuck into darkroom printing again. One of my main subjects in digital is vintage/ pin-up anyways so it all ties in nicely.

I picked up a Microflex TLR with the original box and manual but it was in need of some minor repairs. I have it back now in working order and the whole thing totalled at 150 pounds (camera+ repairs) bargain! I've just shot my first 3 rolls of film this week and will be starting to print tomorrow - I was looking for some information on how to make large format prints - and stumbled upon this site.

I'm loving the camera so far , even the funny looks I get when taking it out for a stroll - I'm a 30-year old woman (but I look like I'm in my twenties lucky me) so most people don't quite know what the heck I'm doing.

Anyways, lovely to be here and I look forward to continue learning about analogue film processes and equipment.

My Rolleicod also gets some strange looks but more often it's the "I used to have one of those" type of comments.

Glad you found us. I found it was a bit like "Alice in Wonderland' down the rabbit hole when I first found all of the knowledge on film based photography available here on Apug.

I have been involved in film for over 20 years, and the crowd here shows there is still so much to learn with many willing sharing the information they have learned.

Hi and welcome to APUG! If you can't find the answers you're looking for here, you won't find them anywhere.

I got my first TLR when I was 30 (just a few years ago...) and loved it from the beginning. I have about 7 now, all Autocords and Yashicas, even though the Bronica has mostly supplanted their use now. I love travelling with a TLR -- the strange looks I do get tend to be friendly ones, and it often surprises me that young people seem to know as much about my cameras as the older folks do.

Welcome to APUG. I also have a TLR. A Rolleicord. It is great for taking pictures of people or crowds. Nobody knows what you are doing and those who do mostly don't mind. You will get much more pictures of smiling people with a TLR on your stomach than an SLR up in your face.

Well I am 51 and today I feel about 101!!
Been moving furniture around all night last n ight ready for decorating.
I havn't had much time to take any photos this last month and I am getting 'ichy feet' for getting out and about with any camera!
