This picture here shows my 503CW viewfinder. That black square at the lefthand side, after some research, turns out to be the indicator for the TTL/flash, if I'm not mistaken.

I'm sure theres a simple solution, but how do I get rid of it?

I don´t think that you can get rid of this that easily without severely damaging the camera, significantly lowering it´s resale value or doing even worse. I would rather sell the camera and buy a 501CM instead, if you do not need TTL Flash.

Sorry, what I mean is: How do I not have it show up? It appeared all of a sudden out of nowhere

Looking at the manual, it seems that little protrusion is always there. As you mentioned, it holds the indicator lamp for TTL flash.

Thanks Mike, for the clarification. It's strange though, I feel like it popped up out of nowhere when I looked through the VF today.
Maybe I need more sleep...:pouty:
