I'm an Anarcho-syndicalist. Well maybe not so much now that I'm retired. 😂

I don't mix black and chrome. Never cared for black Hasselblads. But if someone was to give me one I would take good care of the little devil!

Threads combined.

I have chrome Hasselblads but I will use black Hasselblad backs if it has the film of choice at the time. I happen to have only a few black film backs.

Hasselblad V System:

Are you a purist - keeping chrome and black components apart, and only using components from the same era?
Are you a mixer - using chrome or black parts from different eras but never mixing black with chrome?
Are you an Iconoclast - using a CFV or Phase 1 back on a 500C chrome body with a black WLF?

Iconoclast

black or chrome is way down my list of priorities, I have no hesitation in mixing them up if it suits the need.

Since we're talking Hasselblad parts, does anyone mix chrome and black parts or is that sacrilegious? I have an all-black 500 c/m and looking for an extra film back, but the best deals are for chrome. Would I look like even more the rube that I already am to walk around with that?

If it fits
you must insist
on using it no matter what
or become just another Hasselblad Fashion twat
too wound up, to even fart!

After all, it's all good!

I try to match ,and having been patient for 30 years, looking for the best deals,, I'm finally there.

It would be nice to have nice bright blue skins on my Hasselblads and lenses, but I have never been motivated to go that far.

O/T buy why 2(!) motor Hasselzadehs?
(I like them, maybe I should follow your example, and its seems most people don't want them)

Ah, sorry! For some reason, I didn't see a notification for your reply/question until now.

Why two motorized Hasselblads? The answer is, I was using them commercially in a portrait studio, on a tripod with a digital back.

The 500CM is my running around film camera. The 553ELX is my workhorse studio camera. The one I have now is my second 553ELX; the first one got destroyed when my tripod got knocked over onto a tile floor, and it cracked the body shell in two places. At the time, a couple of years back, Hasselblad could fix it--but what they were asking was far more than just buying another body would cost. So I picked up a replacement for my 553ELX when you could still get them on eBay for 400 bucks or less.

And then one day, I was browsing KEH's site, and they had a complete, excellent condition 500ELX complete with late waist-level finder--for $300 including the 10% off sale at the time. I had a bit of spare cash, and I thought it would be a good idea to get a backup (especially at that price) for my 553ELX, remembering the accident that destroyed my first one. So yes, that's why I have two. My 500CM and 553ELX get loads of work in their respective spheres, and the 500ELX is the backup to the 553ELX--which you always need as a pro.

Now is the time to buy.

I think the chrome motorized Hasselblads, CMH, are easier on the eye, as the chrome strips (are they actually chrome, or polished stainless steel??) break up the body's bulk a bit. The black version looks a bit ungainly.
