Hasselblad: film AND digital?

Yes, I'm still shooting film, processing in my Jobo setup, scanning, and printing. However, will I be kicked out of the group, or looked down upon, when my CFV II 50C arrives next week?
I love this forum, and respecting everyone's predilections is truly important to me. Been shooting Hasselblad since 1966, so shooting film AND digital (Nikon) is natural--best equipment to capture images.

What you own and shoot with is your business and anyway had you not told us we'd be none the wiser My only concern would be íf you were to show a "totally digital picture " i.e those that involved no film at all or askws for help in terms of faults with the digital camera on this forum which, as I understand it, is analogue and hybrid combined

There is a separate digital only forum, I think, but to be honest being solely analogue in terms of film and darkroom printing I am not quite clear what the distinctíons or rules are these days

Many here live in both film and digital. Some more one way than the other. Even so that only use one. But all are welcome to Photrio. I use my Hasselblads for film and use the Nikon 7Zii for digital.

Many here live in both worlds.
We do "curate" the discussions though. Subjects that are purely film/darkroom related are organized into one part of the site, subjects that involve mixed film and digital go into the hybrid section, subjectects that are purely digital go into the digital section, and subjects that are relatively process independent go into the Mixed Workflow section. You get to choose if you only want to view and participate in some of those sections.
And yes, we do from time to time run into discussions that are tough to find the right spot for.

Film is still my favorite, so 35, 120, 4x5, and 8x10 all have been in my kit over the years. These days, a 501CM, F4, and F5 keep me happy

Privately I shoot only (E6) film, and have for decades (I'm one of those oddballs who just cannot tolerate looking at negatives! ). When working it is a mix of digital (ALPA, RED) and cinema cameras for stills and snips. I'm almost in my fifth decade of analogue photography.

I started developing film in 1954 (Microfile for my step-father's lectures), and seeing my images as I hang the film to dry is still a celebration of "Great, I nailed the exposure" (well, most of the time). That rush just isn't there for me with digital; and $30+ for a sheet of 8x10 Ektar, visibly correctly exposed, is a joy AND a relief.

As @MattKing said we do 'curate', which is to say that in practice, we generally move a thread if it's not in the proper category, but generally only if someone reports it. Experience shows that it's mostly people with an active interest in analog photography who request digital or hybrid content to be moved out of an analog-only area; this is fairly common. The opposite has to the best of my knowledge never occurred. Make of that what you will (and yes, there clearly are methodological caveats to this observation).

No way! We welcome photographers and people with an interest in photography regardless of technique, technology choices, media, artistic convictions etc. The more, the merrier. And while Photrio remains one of the most useful community-accumulated knowledge bases regarding analog photography technology, an 'analog only' mentality has never been part of Photrio's policies. You're welcome to post about your new digital back, ask questions about it, tell us all how great it is and (hopefully) show us what you'll create with it!

Just wish I could get my DCS ProBack on my 555ELD to behave, as it would be fun to play with even if I didn't use it regularly. I actually bought the 555ELD primarily to get the untested back with it(which will only work on that camera, not any other 500-series camera)-the camera has been dead reliable but I've had a few adventures inside the back and in board-level repairs to keep ending up at the error of "No lens sync detected"...

In any case, no judgement or shame from me, and even though lately I've been shooting a LOT of film, my D5 alone(not counting the other digitals I use, even though that's the main one) shot more frames this past weekend than I've shot film this fall...

If you go shopping in a Costco warehouse, you will often find orphan product sitting on a shelf somewhere, where a customer has left it after changing their mind about buying it.
The Costco staff have a regular routine of taking a cart through the warehouse to pick up the orphans and either return them to where they belong or discard them if they are perishable.
They have a great name for that process - they call it "weeding" .
Sometimes, when reading through the currently active threads on Photrio, I do a bit of that sort of "weeding". Rarely a discard, but sometimes a move to a more appropriate home.

Digital Hasselblad CFV16 Back 30mm Distagon, 40mm Distagon, 50mm Distagon, 80mm Planar, 100mm Planar, and 120mm S-Planar. A short to medium full set, all roughly the same vintages. More than I can carry around, but it's here to use. Also 2 of 4 Lithium Battery Packs, Type CF Adapter, and seven 32G Micro Cards. I now prefer this late model Magnifying Hood, and the special CFV16 Acute Focusing Screen, which makes a huge deal with critical focus with this thing. It is -very- critical and DOF seems to be less than usual with this system. But all is good here.

In the studio I use my CFV16 to "tune up" my Broncolor lighting, then switch to film, sometimes shooting several emulsions to give myself a choice. Saves a lot of money on "Instant" Fujiroids. I just love the results from this "Fat Pixel" Back. I've wanted this for twenty years, then last year finally found one I could afford. I guess people tend to keep them

That is pretty close to my yearly film budget when I was sending colour film out for processing.

But you do get to wet-print film, which is what makes it worth while!

I'm glad you don't carry all of it!
The most I can carry now is one 67, four lenses, 2 rolls of 120, a Sekonic L758D, Mars Bars and freeze-dried strawberries. And even with that, the distances for walking are short, the shots contemplative, meditative and long...

I owned, a long time ago now, a classic Hassy 500CM +80mm (1984+) which I photographed old cattlemen's huts in the high alpine country. Hassys back then — in the famously 'fitting' square 6x6 format, were far more abundant in the landscape and static scene genres (beside the gentlemanly genres of portraiture and advertising); much less so now but some stalwarts of the Big H can still be bumped into in odd and remote places — and the cameras are always a good conversation starter!
