For me, I mount my finished prints on archival matt board, and store them in archival storage boxes, but I have a lot of work prints, often with notes scribbled on the back which are kept in the old paper boxes. In the survey there didn't seem to make any distinction between the choice of a box because it provided archival storage vs being free. For me, both have value, but for different things.

Coupple of points, I have had a few Print file sleeves that seem to be slightly off, nothing too serious. I DO wonder if they are really the best thing as they are not WELL VENTILATED and SO may precipitate Vinegar Syndrome.

Proof sheets are matched up with print file pages and end up in a binder. Would love a set of 3 inch heavy duty, Archival Materials Oversize binder to take the 7 strips of 6 format Print file pages, and proof sheets with a 3 ring punched tap tipped on.

I do use old paper boxes to store work prints and snapshots. I wish that 11/14 Paper came in 100 sheet boxes as they would be better for this purpose The 50sheet ones are very shallow.

I do reuse Black bags to hold and ship unprocessed movie film. The Lab tends to not return the bags. Again Ventilation could be an issue with processed Movie Film.

Ventilation? And vinegar syndrome? I thought that this would only be happening in extreme conditions and also I thought vinegar syndrome was a product of the film when it was in storage before shot, I thought after it was processed this is not an issue?

it also takes like 50 years for this to happen, at least with the old films he did, so with new films that have been modernized, I can't imagine that this is a really large issue.

I could be wrong

The vinegar-syndrom is a decay of Acetate film bases itself. It is not related to processing.

I do not know of any film manufacturers' improvements on Acetate base, conquering the vinegar Syndrom. Instead the use of PET-based films is advised, respectively only PET-based films are offered any more.

There may be a few small brands selling 120 rolls and/or 35mm still camera films coated on PET bases, but all those from Fuji, Ilford and Kodak are on acetate bases. Only sheet films have mostly transitioned to PET bases, although even there some Fuji color sheets are still coated on acetate, or at least they were. I don't know whether the few exceptions in that latter category have recently been discontinued.

The survey asked whether I use Ilford product boxes for print storage and I answered 'yes' but that really should be 'sort of'. I don't store many prints in Ilford boxes but I do mail prints in Ilford boxes, inside the black plastic poly bags. They're convenient, available and the right size, so why not?

It's true... This might be hard to see because it's clear, but I tried to take a picture to show you guys, this is the aftermath when I have to pull apart the sheet hole because I can't get the filming because the slit was improperly cut...

have you spoken with print file or the store where you bought it from ?
i can see it ( i think ? ) and it looks not-good.
maybe the store you buy from has a special deal
"all the print file rejects half price" charge customers FULL price

Certainly seems to have the right printing on the edge but I have never seen Printfile pages with that problem. After our camera store closed a few years back I started buying mine direct from printfile.

I buy direct from them, and yes, I've spoken to them, in order for them to send me replacements I have to send them the original back, pay the postage for that, and then they will replace it if they deem it worthy, but they won't cover my shipping that I payed to send it back to them, and I'm never home when they are open to call and handle it all, and last time when I complained about the holes they basically told me to F-off (not in those words but they said don't bother sending it to us, we checked others from the same lot and they are fine so you'll have to deal with it). So I don't even want to bother with calling them... you know I'm a bit of a complainer and I'm particular, but I'm not aggressive and I'm usually calm, but dealing with those idiots is infuriating. I've never had worse customer care than from them, so I just don't bother calling anymore (after 10-ish phone calls dealing with their issues), I don't want to waste my life on hold with them, it's not worth my time, I'll just give them bad press instead which is what they deserve for treating me so badly.

'Just got done with survey, and, didn't realize after "admitting" I store most of my prints in the empty Ilford boxes, I get asked if I store them in them...I laughed!
BTW - if this was a 2nd part of a survey, where's the 1st? I never took it...
