I’ve been a prolific user of HDPP and have also evangelized it’s use through numerous videos on my YouTube channel. I can easily see a good market for this product, many experimenters want to try it out, but the rub has been and continues to be availability. I have to question whether Harmon Ilford are really interested in growing their overseas market. Plenty of opportunities here for growth in sales, the world’s their oyster, they’ve just gotta have the vision. From my perspective they are a fading company in recession. Sad.

Joe, I agree with your comments, especially with respect to North America. I hope that your last sentence does not prove to be true.

I cannot continue to wait for an indefinite supply date for HDPP, so I am proceeding with my project by making positives from my negatives on sheet film and using those positives for what I need.

I have some information from our Sales Director, Giles Branthwaite:

"Direct Positive Paper was re-released for sale in January following a hiatus due to the correction of some technical aspects. The uptake from our distributors has been excellent, meaning it should be widely available internationally over the coming months as orders are placed, shipped and then forwarded onto retailers. We have even had to put on additional production runs.

Unfortunately, our e-commerce capability currently only runs to the UK, with all other sales being undertaken through distributors. This means that the website will only give you options to buy if you are UK based.

In the US, Roberts in Indianapolis is our distributor as per the previous comments, with sales contacts based out of New York state. For Canada, Amplis in Toronto distribute for us, so they should be an alternative contact if you live in Canada. We recommend contacting them (as appropriate) to get an updated view on direct positive availability."

Regards,
David

David, while we are on the subject of Direct Positive paper is there any chance of UK sizes like Half and Whole plate, 12x10 and 15x12. No-one here has 14x11 cameras and 7x5 cameras are uncommon as none were ever made or sold in the UK. My interest is in 12x10, Whole plate, and Half Plate.

Roberts has 2 boxes of 8x10 available to order. Any more than that would require a wait of 4-6 weeks per my sales rep there.

Adorama here in New York had some in stock last week. I bought a box last Sunday and the woman working there told me it was the last box of 5x7 in the store. It must have sold out pretty quickly though because it's all gone now according to their website. They're closed now for Passover but maybe after the holiday you can find out if they're getting more?
in my experience, this paper is best exposed with a #8 yellow filter at EI3 and developed in diluted Dektol.
