Hi everyone! My name's Norman, I've been browsing around here for a while but figured I'd better introduce myself.

I started out in film, with the parents' SLR, then went to the dark side with a Canon 40D, then sold up the digital gear and now I'm back to film again. All before the age of 21.

My main camera's a Voigtlander Bessa R3A + Nokton 40/1.4 set, and Canon EOS 650 + 17-40L for landscapes, but I've come into possession of a Mamiya RB67 lately, which is a lot of fun to use out on the street. Still have a lot to learn about medium format.

I dabble in all kinds of photography - street, landscape, portraits, still life, whatever takes my fancy.

I love Velvia.

I'm planning on setting up a darkroom in my house - will probably take a while but already have the enlarger (Durst DA 900) and the rest of the pieces should fall into place soon.

In the future, I'm also planning on exploring panoramic cameras (XPan on the wish list!), liquid emulsion printing, and home development of E-6 and C-41 film.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone around here, learning the craft, and perhaps meeting some fellow Sydney film shooters! Oh, and hopefully *not* spending too much money in the Classifieds area...

Hey :D

Good to see another OCAU'er make the trip over here

We should do another Sydney APUG meetup sometime soon

Welcome to APUG! And beware the classifieds...I can't even look at them anymore!

Welcome to APUG Norman.
You started with a 35mm, now you've got an RB67, next is a 4x5. It only goes on from there, it did for me.
Mike

Welcome to APUG, Norman. Good luck getting your darkroom together; printing is at least half the fun and there's an astonishing number of knowledgable people around here, all very generous with their time and advice. Have fun!

Norman - hello and welcome to APUG!! :D

Welcome Norman. I do hope you continue and find pleasure in your pursuits. Film most certainly offers a contemplative approach to photography that digital cannot touch.

Like yourself I hail from sydney, love velvia and am setting up a darkroom where i hope to muse over life while images slowly emerge from apparently white paper.

goodluck!

Another Sydneysider here (actually a pom, but i live here!). Let's get a Sydney meetup organised.

Welcome to APUG
