Hi everyone,

I have been have been a member for a little while and I have been reading/lurking but the time has come for me to be a little more active. I am in Switzerland and an avid enthusiast of analogue photography. I have a make-shift darkroom at home which I don't get to spend enough time in. I started with digital photography but felt that there was something missing, much like cooking dinner in a microwave, the cooking was a much missed component. So I found myself drawn to analogue photography. In the space of about two years it has more or less consumed me. Here is a brief introduction to my setup:

Mamiya RZ67, 50, 90, 180mm lenses
Mamiya 7ii, 43, 65, 80mm lenses
Leica M7, Summilux 35mm asph, Summicron 90mm lenses
Canon AE-1, 50mm lens
(I still have one digital camera, an M9)

Durst Laborator 1200, Ilford Multigrade 500h head
Ilford rc1250 dryer
fiber dryer
16X20 archive washer

Broncolor Impact 41, 21 strobes.

ProCabin 6X7 Projector for slides

Epson V750 Scanner for scanning

Gruezi Wohl! It's coming on. I work in Zug and there is a shop that deals exclusively with analogue products. I get all my papers, chemicals and film from them. I also get all colour and slide film developed there. They are constantly expanding so things must be going well. I live in Basel where another analogue shop just closed, but they never did much to market themselves or introduce new products to the market. I know a few people who still shoot film and I do what I can to keep it alive.

In October I'll be going to a workshop in Zurich on Collodion Process (wet plate). I'm looking forward to that.

I'm just glad to see by forums like this that film is alive and well on earth.

I suggest planning your darkroom expansion in the direction of a Jobo processor, if space allows. Developing your slide by yourself will be an added enjoyment. (Not that it isn't possible without a rotative processor, but it's better with one).

Diapositivo - I have been contemplating a Jobo Processor for C41 or E6. I'm quite happy to get the colour and slide developed professionally. My locals do a great job and I can continue to support them. I am trying to focus on BW for my darkroom and technique, even though I do shoot a lot in colour and slide.

JohnArs - ARS Imago stimmt! I warm my body by the slow-burning embers of the money I throw at photography. I have no doubt that I'll get into large format one day, I have a lot more to learn about photography before that happens though I'm tempted all the time though and my Durst 1200 enlarger can take 4X5!

RichardH - go for it. I used to be a pastry chef, which I loved because it was a combination of art and science. I realised that with digital photography I loved photography, but something was missing. The Magic ingredient, the cooking process. Digital was too easy, take meal out freezer, bung in microwave, nuke, eat, feel somehow unsatisfied. With cooking, I feel the love in real food, I love giving it to people and seeing what effect good food has one them. I get the same out of analogue photography, I go shopping for the ingredients, I plan my meal, I go through the whole process, I take and make a picture with love and then I give it to someone. When you give someone (or yourself) a hand made photo, the reaction is priceless, nobody prints photos out anymore.
