Hello,

I have lurked on the board for quite a while, now it is time to introduce myself. I’m Nacho, and I live in Southern California.

While I have a background in film photography, I still produce better results with a digital SLR. I don’t think I have enough practice with the MF film camera to produce consistent results. This is why I frequently view this forum. I shoot mostly portrait, sports and landscape. I have a Pentax 67II and a RZ67II. I am getting the hang of the Pentax 67, as its built-in metering system is as consistent is my Canon 1DSII. Also, I feel that it handles the same as my other SLR’s, just a little bigger.

I have been testing several B&W films and I think TMAX 100 and 400, both suit my taste. I do like the Delta’s I just like the look of the TMAX more. I will continue to shoot Pan F and 3200, when I need something very clean or very fast. For now, I want to learn TMAX.

Still a total hack when it comes to color films. I love the tranies I get with shooting Velvia. I am working the kinks out with Ektar and other C-41 films.

Thanks for reading this, and I hope to get some great words of wisdom from this board.

Many regards,

Nacho

Welcome to APUG from Southern California.

Probably the best advice that I can give you is to slow down when you are taking a photograph. Give up the machine gunning tendency of digital, take a deep breath, compose the scene in the viewfinder, study the light take a light reading, check the depth of field, and think is this the composition I want or should I move to a better location?

Thanks to all for the warm welcome. As I previously stated, I want to further my knowledge of photography and more specifically my film photography. I already know this is a great place for that.

I do have a few basic questions as I want to learn the culture and not offend anyone. First, with the aversion to digital, I assume that it is a no-no to reference digital? If that is the case, how would you suggest the best way to post your work? Scanning digitizes the analog process.

Thanks again,
Nacho
