Maybe go for some medium format.

Regardless of how the money is saved (CD/stocks/bonds/mattress_in_the_back_room), I still say that now isn't the time to buy film stuff. It will keep going down and down in price until it hits a bottom. By arbitrage definition, it will probably meet the price of scrap metal AT the bottom when digital gets too enticing for people.
I disagree. For instance, prices for some of the higher end Olympus OM gear is slowly going UP. Digital guys are using the lenses on their Cannons.
Zuiko 100 mm f2.0 = $1000.
Zuiko 24mm f3.5 Shift = $2500+.
Zuiko 180mm f 2.0 = $3500+.
Zuiko 250mm f2.0 was $4500 and I cannot even find one for sale now.
My advice would be save the money until there's something you need, not want.
If this advice was followed by all of us then most would have to sell our gear. No one "needs" photo gear unless it's their main money malker.![]()
I've been selling off some gear I don't use.....
WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?
IMO, forget all that camera stuff and take your darkroom to the next level.
P.S. What are you asking, Brad? Any case, or other accessories in the kit?
Just an update.. I haven't made any big purchases yet.
So far The best advice ive heard was by Mark Fisher: "A high quality tripod and head is really important and a pleasure to use."
I realized that I am severely lacking in that department. The one I have is really lousy. I will be looking for a ultra compact tripod and a sturdy medium-weight tripod. That will be the first bite out of the cookie.
Thinking about tripods made me realize that I am also lacking in some of the other supporting gear. To that end I am going to pick up some small things:
A good folding light reflector.
Good 35mm and 120 developing reels. (mine keep jamming up, very aggravating)
Light seal replacements on a couple of my cameras.
