Recently I was looking for a Series 5.5 drop in filter, UV or Haze, for a new lens. Nothing here, Fred Miranda B&S, Etsy. Then I remembered buying a used 34mm filter a hear ago from filterfind,net. I went there and found several 5.5 drop in filters at very reasonable prices.

What a great resource for those stateside.

I was looking for a couple of B&W monochrome contrast control filters in 52mm to match larger sizes in the same spec that I already have. Between all the ‘too good to be true’ online discounted prices, and the impossibility of finding a yellow or a red filter in a modern camera store that only sells digital cameras and UV filters, I was finding it surprisingly tricky. Eventually I discovered that Calumet in Germany- somewhere accessible to me, currently have discounted prices on new B&W filters including contrast control ones. I can only assume that Calumet in Germany is about as safe a bet as there is for authentic B&W filters, but I suppose the proof will be in the negative as they say! Not cheap, but I like the quality.

Yes, Tim is a great vendor. He has new and used of just about any filter you would ever need. Super reasonable prices as well. Plenty of vintage hard to find items.

I just received an order of three 49mm UV filters from Filterfind. I found the description (“looks new”) was a little optimistic, as all three were smudged, They did clean up well, however, and I am quite satisfied with the order.

Why did I order a common filter from Filterfind? I had earlier ordered two different brands of 49mm UV filters from Amazon, but found that both had a larger outer diameter (>51mm) than older filters, so my favorite lens caps, which slip over the outside of the filter, would not work. The new filters would also not work with my OM-1 Zuiko 200mm f5, as the larger outer diameter of the new filters blocks the len’s built-in lens shade from being pulled out.
