I just purchased this camera. The shutter speeds all sound the same from 1 second to 1/500th--fast. B does work. Frank Marshman said:

"Sounds like the geartrain is not resetting or the shutter is not completely cocking. The shutter is Sekoisha. Considering the age of these shutters I am not surprised that it is not working properly because most have never been serviced"

The seller says the shutter was working before it was shipped, so I might have an issue with them, but eBay will probably side with me since it wasn't sold as a parts broken camera.

Hate to return it so I'm hoping to work out something with the seller and Frank.

In the mean time, anyone her work on this lens? Care to share how difficult it was to open and fix whatever the issue was? Finally, is there a repair manual around I could look at in case I decide to tackle this myself?

I read that these lenses have Seiko no.0 shutter, here is the repair manual:

https://learncamerarepair.com/downloads/pdf/Mamiya-Seiko-Shutter-Repair.pdf

I faced this shutter with this problem twice, once one piece of the slow speed mechanism was broken, the pin that has to be pushed by the main drive spring and another time the old grease had this mechanism completely held in a nom cocked position so all speeds were the same but B.
If you move the camera (or gently shake) up and down and you hear small metal piece going on inside the lens, probably is the first case.

I hope this helps.

There is a Fuji G690 repair manual somewhere on the web. Opening the lens to access the shutter adds another level of complication (that is, it will be more of a PITA to remove the elements and get access to the shutter than in say a Mamiya TLR lens).

The camera body and lens have two linkages, one on the bottom with a large travel for the shutter cocking and one at the side with smaller travel to fire the shutter. You can use these by pushing the link with a pen or screwdriver or fingernail to test cocking and firing the shutter with the lens off the camera (this procedure is described in the manual, to cock a shutter before mounting a lens). I doubt that the problem is as simple as the camera isn't pushing the lens far enough to completely cock the shutter, but it's worth testing.

The lens doesn't has a rattle in it. The body seems to cock the shutter fine.

The seller wanted to work with me so he'll pay to have Frank Marshman CLA the lens.
