Yes that is interesting.

They say portable MF camera, unless it is stuck to a tripod or computer, I would have thought any camera is portable, as long as you can carry it.

Perhaps they are going to release another rangefinder. I had one of their 645 folders last century, great camera, superb optics.

I don’t know this website, or if this is a totally unfounded rumour, but for the time being I choose to believe that the camera will take film. It feels better that way.

Fuji makes the cameras marketed as the Hasselblad "H" series, the H1, H2 & H3. The first two of these have roll film backs available for them. These cameras have also been sold under the Fuji brand in Japan. It is not odd to think that Fuji may be taking some of the same building blocks currently used for the Hasselblad H3 and making it available under the Fuji name as a film camera. At one time Fuji made a rather largish 6x7 camera with built-in bellows, very much like the concept of the Mamiya RB67. Of course there could be the possibility of a new medium-format rangefinder, as Fuji has made plenty of these also.

The fuji are still listing the GX680 on their japanese site. Maybe its just not available for export.

Fuji's SLR could take, I believe, 6x6, 6x7, 6x8 or 6x9 backs. In rangefinders they also made 6x7, 6x8, and 6x9. I have a 6x7 and 6x9, and they're great cameras. Unfortunately they kept the 6x8 rangefinders out the USA market.

This is probably a one-off prototype camera, similar in concept to the futuristic cars at the auto shows, that are designed to gauge public acceptance. If they get thousands of people sending them deposits for the cameras, maybe they will eventually be produced. And maybe not. Just a thought.

In case anyone's wondering, there's a picture of the GX680 here: http://www.fujigx680forum.com/ I saw one in person (the III) a few months ago- it's a real monster. It's larger than an RB67.

I'm a big fan of Fujifilm, but after having a GS645S and (thankfully) trading it in for a Mamiya M645, I'm not overly-exited about anymore of their cameras.

They discontinued their 6x17 not long ago. It would not surprise me too much to see a newer version 6x12 or 6x17 from them. There may be enough demand for a small run of such cameras.
