I did a test with fully exposed small strip from the same Acros film, developed in the Rodinal, same result : b.l.a.n.k. clear cellulose.
Then I developed another Acros from the same batch that was still in the camera body when my baggage went thru the airport scanner. This time I use D76, same long ass stop bath and fixing time because I am still lazy. It worked. I also sent another roll that was outside the camera body to a professional lab just to rule out x-ray scanner issue.
The Rodinal I use is Adox and the last time I used it was probably a year ago or so. I definitely would not now of gradual fading that happened within the last one year.

The Adox Rodinal will NOT last a year once the bottle has been opened. So, you’ve demonstrated that the issue you had was defunct developer. As Koraks states, the “legendary” stability of the original Agfa Rodinal doesn't apply to any of the modern versions of Rodinal. Use it within 6 months, or test before you use it on valued film.

I’m sorry to say but my opened and partly used Adox Rodinal has lasted way over a year. So not quite sure why you guys are having issues with Adox Rodinal but maybe I was lucky. From now on I’ll bulk process my films just to avoid any issues like I do for XT3/Xtol

Storage conditions make a huge difference: heat and light are the enemies of Rodinal (well, any developer, really). If a half full bottle is kept where it's exposed to light and in a warm place, it will degrade much faster.
Personally, I wouldn't trust it after 9-10 months at most, and at that point, I'd perform a clip test on film before I used it.

And just because it is actually developing the film doesn't mean it's developing it as well as it should.

Yes and it was my understanding that Adox Rodinal is made to the exact same recipe as the Original Agfa Rodinal and is so claimed to be by Adox

Still if some of us are convinced that Adox Rodinal does not last a year once opened then so be it. It still seems quite a "jump" in terms of choosing likely causes to be sure that "dead" Adox Rodinal is the most likely cause or is definitely the cause

You're right!

Hmm, last time I bought Rodinal, it was also Adox-made, but this was several years ago. It also didn't last very long. There are many discussions online about the longevity of different Rodinal versions. The legendary longevity of Rodinal doesn't seem to apply to many/most of the contemporary variants.

That's the reason I bought it in place of HC110 that was out of stock in my local shop. Just to clarify my Rodinal is more than a year old after opened. I forgot exactly when I bought it but the last time I used when it still worked maybe a year or so. Lesson learned, back to HC110 again.

Buying the 100ml bottle might be another option. I use XTOL and occasionally Adox Rodinal, never had any problems.
