Greetings everyone,
I have a FS4000US that I recently purchased from eBay. It was basically new-old stock - the APS adapter still had the protective film on it.
I've been using it to scan my collection (with Vuescan) of APS cartridges since Jan and have processed about 70 rolls through it with another 70 to go.
Up to about a month ago, during preview or scanning, the APS cartridge holder that slides back and forth during scanning is now getting 'jammed'. It just stops suddenly mid scan then makes an awful noise, resets, it tries again. It's 50/50 if it does complete the scan. And then it is 50/50 when it does not reset successfully Vuescan throws an error and pauses scanning. Normally I can click continue and it usually finishes the batch scan session.
I have opened the unit and it is super clean inside. I did put some white lithium grease on the somewhat dry metal rails that had remnants of grease before but that hasn't cleared the issue up.
A few days ago, I tried 35MM scanning with its holder and that did get 'jammed' - but it usually recovers.
Any suggestions? Does anyone know where I can find the service manual for this unit (if it exists)?
Thanks in advance.
