FP4+ Mushy Grain

I use a 5 gallon [US not Imperial] paint bucket and marked it on the inside with a 4 liter and 5 liter level. But Canadian Tire, how prefect! All the Canadians spend their Saturday mornings there for some reason.

Whereas the 'Mericans are at Harbour Freight.
Canadian Tire has more of a presence in Eastern Canada then here - I rarely go there or buy from them.
Their website is a good Canadian source for grabbing illustrative examples of thing like pails.

Matt there's 59 of the in Alberta & 54 Canadian Tire stores in BC..... I've got one 10 minutes bike ride away and in the metropolis of Calgary an hour away there are 10. Delta must be the black hole in the lower mainland

Yes, I think so. This time, however, I’ll do a lot more research. The Epson was bought on the spur of the moment.

You have a good medium format scanner and an excellent large format scanner.
And it is also good for scanning prints and graphics.
But for "miniature" formats like 35mm, flat-bed scanners have real limitations.

Nah - there is one a short drive away.
But they just don't have the "front of mind" reputation that I understand them to have in Ontario, where over 200 of the 504 stores are located.

When Plus-X was still available, I liked using it bright light better than FP-4+. It seemed to have nicer contrast. In dull or overcast light, Plus-X was not as easy to use. It was easier to make FP-4+ look good in bright light than to make Plus-X look good on dull light. There are some things that make FP-4+ easier to use than TMX or Ilford Demta 100. FP-4+ is more forgiving when it comes to exposing or developing. Both Tri-X and TMY-2 have been greatly improved over time. FP4+ has pretty much stayed the same. Still, it works well in almost any developer. The analogy in color print film is the difference between Portra 400 and Fuji/Kodak 200 speed films. Portra 400 is finer grained and sharper than any currently available 200 speed color print film. The drawback? It's more expensive. I have tried the Kodak Gold 200 in 120 size and I like it but if I needed to enlarge more I would use Portra 160 or 400 or Ektar 100.

More resembles a Home Cheapo store here, hopefully minus all the accidents waiting to happen from fallen cartons and untrained forklift drivers. More like Lowes, but bad enough. I don't think anything could ever get lower in the bottom of the barrel than Harbor Freight. But I look at the bright side ... Matt started this tangent, so should write his own jaywalking ticket.

True - but I expect those unfamiliar with Canadian Tire may think that they are mostly a tire store.

Vintage, and it still works.

Not quite as much upkeep required as the DEC Vax-11/780 I used to have in my garage. Now that was a bear to keep running. I replaced it with a Raspberry Pi running a Vax emulator. It's faster than the original and uses around 0.1% of the power.

Yes. It's not a tiny thing like the $29 ones sold on Amazon. It can easily stir 5L of solution without breaking a sweat as long as it's not super viscous.

Nice. At least without a superconducting magnet you don't need to worry about cryogenics. I look after a Bruker Avance III HD 400 MHz at work, and liquid helium isn't cheap.
