Thanks Darko, thats what I though as well.
So, sadly it looks like Fotokemika wont stretch it till after July 2013 and we might not see how the cards might play...

Why? Is Kodak going out of business?

Even if they did, it would be too late to save EKFE products.

PE

Probably Kodak will not go out of business, but they sure wont be doing still photography products anymore...

http://money.cnn.com/2012/08/24/news/companies/kodak-film/index.html

Meaning that unless someone purchases and keep producing and selling "Kodak" products, the possible market share for other actors in the industry will undoubtedly become possible to develop and grow!!

ADOX : CHS films, Nuance and Vario Classic

The newer Rollei Pan 25 120 roll films are Efke R 25.

See below linked post 238 for impact on Adox. I don't think Rollei has announced anything here. Anyone here in Europe who can inquire to Rollei?

Post 238, Mirko from Adox talking about what is discontinued:

Rollei Pan 25 is definitely NOT Efke 25. It's a very different animal. I tried both last yr in 6X9 for mtn
photog. The Rollei was nice, but with more of an S-curve and not even remotely the very long scale
of Efke. Shadow separation was disappointing in high contrast scenes, at least for my application.
Guess I'll stockpile some Efke in the freezer, and hope that somebody later actually replicates the
formula.

I was talking about the newer 120 version of Pan 25 : http://www.macodirect.de/rollei-p-412.html

Hmmmm ... (????) ... The packaging certainly looks exactly like the Rollei Pan 25 I purchased and used just last year, which was certainly not anything like Efke 25. Maybe some misinformation somewhere per Maco??? Just how new is "newer"?

Drew, rumor has it the old pan 25 incarnation had Filmotec / ORWO (reminded of NP15 from the days..) involved but don't hold me to it.
New one might be efke offspring or might be not, haven't tried it yet.

I still have a couple of rolls of the Rollei left in the freezer, but can't check it until tonite. It had a
different antihalation dye, different packaging, and as I mentioned, very different exposure response
from Efke 25. And as I recall, it was made in Germany, not Croatia. I bought it from Freestyle here just about a year ago. Maybe a different selection is being sold in Europe, repackaged in those same canisters. I've run into these kinds of mysteries before with EU products. But I will remark that this
last batch of unequivocal Efke 25 I used had none of the quality issues as on previous occasions.

And the Maco/Rollei page in english:

Rollei Pan 25 120

Rollei Pan 25 120
[ incl. 19% VAT plus shipping costs]

This version Rollei Pan 25 is 1:1 identical to Efkepan 25.
Maco reserve the right to deliver the Efkepan 25 instead of Rollei Pan 25 for the same price.

Draw your own conclusions ...

Then I called a second shop, Fotomatica, and asked them if they have some Efke bulk rolls. They actually have only the 100 asa but they did told me that this Efke/Fotokemika shutting down news is bul*** and it's all invented. They said that Fotokemika is still alive and kickin'.

I conclude that someone is out of the loop. Did they call Fotokemika to confirm the reports? People on this thread have.

Man, one reason I had been reluctant to try it, even the 4x5 Efke 100 I lucked into - I was afraid I'd like the tonality too much but be unable to tolerate the reported lack of QC. Sounds like they got it together just in time to lose it.

Of course they didn't. It's all up to approximation here in Italy.
Like Ars-Imago that says that Adox CHS isn't available anymore while from Fotoimpex it's still available.

Yeah here in the States, our main distributor (Freestyle) said that it is only the paper that was impacted but sadly Darko called them and heard the awful truth (no film and paper) and also Mirko of Adox (I think visited Fotokemika a couple weeks ago) abd has confirmed the same (no film and paper ever)......

I'm thinking this is a sad but true assessment that they are sadly ceasing prod of film and paper....

This thread is getting more and more depressing.

I'm going to pin my hopes on ADOX being able to come out with something similar to the CHS line they are currently selling. In the meantime I am putting in a bulk order of the CHS 50.

When it was mentioned that Adox might try to make a limited amount of film and charge a higher price, I wonder just how much higher they will be charging? The IR820C is US$13 a roll, while that's high, its not outrageous.. If we are talking in the $15 range and less during a sale, I would be more than happy to purchase it once in awhile when doing family portraits or something extra special.

Anything at or under $20/roll would not dissuade me from an IR film, nor at or under $2/sheet for 4x5 provided I didn't have to buy more than 50 sheets in a box. But I think the Efke IR sheets are already that much. Not the roll film though.

As much as I use IR film, $20 for a 35mm, 36exp roll would be ok, The other films the 25/25/100 like I said, up to around $15 a roll since it is such a special emulsion wouldn't be out of the question. Now with that said, what would that do to those who use that stuff exclusively for that special look?

I feel your pain on the depressing thread thing. I'm trying hard not to lose my wits entirely by dropping $2,000 on a film and paper order.

I did discover something interesting today though. While perusing the Fotoimpex price sheet (big PDF) I found two listings for ADOX CHS 100 in 120. One was followed by the phrase, "made in Germany." The description talks about the improvements made to the spooling and wrapping of the film. The statement goes on to say that if this product, which is about .80€ more per roll, was met with acceptance, they would start spooling (making?) the 50 & 25 speed films there as well. Perhaps there is hope.

I personally wouldn't pay that for the non-IR, but then I've never used them so I'm not addicted. I'm also very happy with Pan-F, FP-4, Tri-X and TMY-2 (and can replace the last two with HP5 if need be.) Oh and TMZ and Delta 3200 though I could do with just the latter though I like TMZ slightly better so for now I use it in 35mm.

But I would pay $2/sheet of 8x10 and proportionately more for larger sizes of Arista Silver Artist. It's not for that many of my shots but when it fits it would be worth it.

The word is that PWT paper is whats next for Adox as Mirko already wrote in this thread.
I have no doubt there will be film replacements to the current CHS line and the long awaited pan 400 film should see the light soon, also pan 100 was announced that is worked on last year..., so no need to worry.

"Made in Germany" ist spooling and packaging. The masterrolls came from Efke.
