In the end it's about what we can put up with. I like bellows hood, and many can be adapted to other brands, so are direct fit since most mount by a ring that is made for a specific filter thread.
In MF Bronica has bellows hood for each line 645,66,67. They may seem large at first, but once collapsed they take on an L shape with rather thin legs. And one fits just about any lens and arguably provides superior shading properties. It's not for every bag in use, but I don't find them as cumbersome as they seem at first sight.
I know this is not what OP is asking for. But, fixing a rubber hood with collapsing capability retained ? I don't think that is possible for any length of time without resorting to an expensive refurbishing process.
