I just left the group and they were going to Bill's photo store in Charlottesville. We planned on meeting Saturday morning at the Nook for breakfast. I am sure that Keith will have more information. We have had two wonderful days of shooting and talking about silver. Hope to see you tomorrow.

Indeed, we'll meet for breakfast at The Nook, which is on the Main Street mall in downtown Charlottesville:

Here is a map; the Nook is at 415 E. Main St.

If all else fails, get yourself to the half-completed hotel on the downtown mall and call me!

After breakfast, we'll have a slide show at around 11 at UVa in the physics bldg., at 382 McCormick. Presenting will be Neal, Richard and myself, with 35mm through 8x10 slides. We'll also have a look at prints, and the darkroom will be open as well. Michel, I just mixed up some fresh ID-11 and maybe Richard will bring his lith potions

Keith, I am glad you have mixed up a brew for film. On the way back to Waynesboro, the weather cleared and it is wonderful. My guess the front has passed through here for now. Good clear light if anyone wants to do late afternoon work. I am visiting with the in-laws. See you in the am.

Travis,

Breakfast is scheduled for 9am at the Nook. I'll be on the Blue Ridge Parkway from ~ 6am until about 8:30, when it will be time to head for Breakfast. Look for the maroon Sequoia loaded with LF/ULF gear....

If anybody wishes to consolidate driving downtown, you are more than welcome to come park up at my place, which is a few turns off I-64. If you appear at my place before 8:45, I will happily take you with me.

My faculty apartment is in the Malone building, which you can find in this UVa map:

http://www.virginia.edu/webmap/IObservatoryHill.html

My apartment is in building 5B, in Hereford College. There is ample parking up here where I live on Observatory hill ("O-hill" to locals). My place is a short walk from McCormick observatory, an impressive old telescope. It's also a short walk from the physics building, where we'll have the slide show.

Travis, do come join us!

I want to thank Richard and Keith for putting this together. I had a wonderful time and made some new friends. I wish Tom, his son and Travis could have joined us.

Now to hit the darkroom!!!

I also want to thank Richard and Keith for putting this together. I really enjoyed meeting the group and all of our adventures. I will be black and blue for a short time, but no one can see those in the darkroom any way. Next time students, we need their strong backs for all of our equipment.
all my best to all the guys,
Michel

Sorry I couldn't make it guys. I didn't leave work until almost 11 pm last night and then I slept through my alarm clock this morning. In the spirit of the workshop, I did manage to get up to Skyline Drive and get some really nice shots of Upper and Lower Doyles River Falls. I'll post the results when I can.

Sounds like I missed a good time.

It was very nice to meet and talk shop! We had a great time showing you around.

It was educational to see such high-quality prints (and lo! so nicely matted and boxed). I hope that everyone has some fun in the darkroom. Just remember our solemn oath to share some prints around  I can hardly wait for my 7x17" azo postcard from John, I wonder if it will fit on my fridge.

As for me, my darkrooming is now complete; a storm blew in around 8 and the lights were flickering so I thought, I have a fresh vat of ID11, why not do my developing. Sorry Michel, I didn't overdevelop anything so the artistic reductionist bleachification will have to wait 'til next time, but on the other hand, I do have those old overexposed junipers to play with. I located Richard's lith potions in my darkroom so maybe he and I will get to lithing on some of our stuff from the weekend.

P.S. Travis, sorry you couldn't come. And Tom as well- hope you're getting better.

P.P.S. I just posted a Swannanananoa polaroid in the gallery...

My thanks too, to Kieth and Richard for setting this up. I enjoyed having the day with all of you. I think Richard talked me into trying some litho. I also think I will try some of Michel's over-exposure/random reduction stuff. Of the 7 exposures, 6 look interesting, one is completely fogged for reasons totally unknown.

And Kieth, you make a lousy ghost.

Many thanks to Richard and Keith. Swannanoa is a great place to shoot. I sure hope I will have some outstanding negs for Pt/Pd. It was the perfect place for that type of print.

Don't forget to visit the O. Winston Link Museum, it's fab.
