OT: was the GAF film not properly cleared and has just gotten fogged or something else? I've only used B&W GAF was there also color? I love shooting this old stock of GAF that I have and it would be good to know now if something about it won't hold up... haha. Thanks.
Some were processed by GAF, some I processed myself, I have bulk rolls of frozen GAF 100 and 200 with 4 16oz kits, I had forgotten how may steps, including reexposure, the GAF system used until I shot a few rolls and need to process. GAF was more like E 4.
I looked at my 3M slides last night, sorry I cant scan, but they are just as they were the day I shot them, very clean, good grain, I have both 100 and 400, I dont recall the 3200.
Ferrania have just confirmed (by email) that large format sizes would be available as well.

Of E6?? Someone pinch me!
They're either visionary, a little mad, or both.

Stone,
You can increase saturation of slide film (this is true of E-6 as well as it was of Kodachrome) with slight underexposure. By "slight" I mean 1/3 to 1/2 stop.If you go beyond 1 stop then it's just plain underexposed (unless the underexposed look is what you're going for).
Calibrate your pre-flash to bring up your shadow detail, underexpose 1 stop, get a 1 stop push.

I wouldn't know, I live in CT :munch:
Hey, a question for you:
If part of the Atlantic falls between Long Island and Connecticut, does it make a sound?
I know this issue merely interests anyone here at Apug, but it has been reported by the press that Ferrania employees have not got wages for months now.
I take the stand that who is able to engineer colour-films, which are based on seperate layers similar to those monochrome films, is also able to engineer classis monochrome films.
As someone with little understanding of markets and such things, why would this be bad for other manufacturers? I've always thought that competition is a healthy thing for a market.
I would agree that's usually the case, but B & W is now a niche market, and if there are too many firms competing in it, you could have a situation where none of them can make a reasonable profit. So I hope the new Ferrania will concentrate on colour, where our choices seem to be reducing rapidly. With B & W there are still lots of options, despite the loss of some old favourites.
Assuming they have the very same machinery, the formulas on hand and the technicians that worked on it. It should seemingly be "straightforward" to begin production again. It's amazing how complex it is, as they state being on R&D, for sure reformulating but perhaps they are getting their old emulsions a leap forward.I take the stand that who is able to engineer colour-films, which are based on seperate layers similar to those monochrome films, is also able to engineer classis monochrome films.
...We could recover the old plan of keeping PE in a barn for our own coating; but instead sending him to italy, for a holiday...
