Here's what was supposed to be an identical exposure (and identical film). This is wrestled from the very edge of what my Nikon 9000 scanner could pull out of this piece of film.

Haha, that part of my planned shot is not yet ready to begin testing. Once I get the kind of exposure I want right, then I'll start running around in the dark with lanterns, hehe.

Behind the scenes pic from last weekend's testing. Mamiya 645, 5DII, Canon Canonet QL17 GIII, Olympus OM-1N, Olympus OM10
I just acquired another Mamiya 645. The one I have has some issues with the cable release adapter. While I was sitting there waiting for the exposures, it spontaneously started over, so I have no idea how long its exposure was.

Added Ektachrome 100G and 100VS to the testing pool.

Looks like some off-limits top secret military antenna facility for detecting spy planes or intergalactic radiation or so...

I haven't been able to test in awhile, but I'm going to try to do so coming up in a Channel Islands trip. We'll see if I can carry two Mamiya 645's plus backpacking gear and my 5DII kit. It will be epic.

Heading out to do some more provia testing this weekend. It's hard to rack up a bunch of tests when your exposures are so long. It's taking a long time to use up these rolls.

Thanks. The other 3 exposures are in my flickr stream. Who knew that my mamiya came with its own automatic light meter that operates in total darkness?

Wow epic fail on doing star trail shots Saturday night in the Channel Islands. Gusts strong enough to pretty much blow you over (60mph range I'm guessing) meant that I needed to use tripods to reinforce my tent. I think I would have ended up with camera trails instead of star trails. It was all I could do to walk away with only a few bent tent poles. One guy in our party had not one but two poles snap under the force of the wind. I'll have to wait for another time to do star trails there. Sigh.

That last pic is something else!

X2~! Definitely one of the best I have seen of this sort of picture. The road and location is a struck of genius.

Wow, what a great picture.... truly awesome.

And to finally see the end result of this project after following the thread for so long is a real treat. An admirable example of follow through.

Hear hear!
