I would actually argue that this is a good sign, these "founders" were film-makers, not film manufacturers, its likely they bought some funding to get things moving and perhaps they got tired and wanted to move on?The Wikipedia (Italy) site in says:
“Nel 2023 i fondatori Nicola Baldini e Marco Pagni lasciano l'azienda, Silvio Pignone è il nuovo CEO.”
which translates (via Google translate) to:
“In 2023 the founders Nicola Baldini and Marco Pagni leave the company, Silvio Pignone is the new CEO.”
Not a good sign in my opinion.
You referring to Dave Bias, I have good reason to believe he is still involved in the company.
Yeah i reached out to him about 18 months ago and said things were still moving along.Could be correct....I remember his moving away from publicising Film Ferrania on social media due to all the horrible posts haters threw at him, as if he was personally responsible for their disappointment in the original Kickstarter rewards ultimately being unachievable. But I don't recall any announcement that he left the company entirely.
EDIT...his LinkedIn profile says he was president of Film Ferrania s.r.l from May 2014 to June 2023 so perhaps he has stepped down???
I emailed Dave the other day and got a response, out of respect I won't share his response and will leave it up to him to go public if and when he feels the time is right.
What I can confirm is he is no longer with the company and the last remaining founder Nicola Baldini also has since left.
The current fate of Film Ferrania is still up in the air, but I hope they pull through.
I've sent an email to the three email addresses in the once-operative Ferrania webpage.
Still haven't received any answers.
Yeah not exactly promising news but thank you for reaching out to Dave Bias. I remain somewhat hopeful that the company still wants to keep film alive for the next 100 years. I do like P30 in the right circumstances and will probably be shooting some in Lanzarote next month.
OK, so thats about 2-3 months awayHaven't received any hint of an answer from Ferrania itself, I've received on the contrary an answer from one of its distributors for Italy.
It's in italian...
Basically after management changes the production was halted and it's believed to resume on the following spring.
Fingers crossed.
Film Ferrania website is back online and working. So at least that is something, and hopefully a good sign.
