Fibre and RC

Hi

Yesterday I was in the darkroom for some hours and decided to use some of my 5x7 inch Agfa fibre paper and compare it to my Agfa RC paper.
I discovered to most wonderful things:

1. That I have made my first really nice fibre print
2. That I am very hooked on fibre
3. That fibre has one wonderful look and RC has another wonderful look.

I am out to buy a box of 8x10 (or the slightly smaller 18x24 cm) fibre paper!

Wait until you discover the lovely different looks of different papers. Afga is a little warm, Ilford Warm Tone is really warm, Ilford and Kentmere are colder and bright white. Forte is neutral but tones like crazy in selenium. Soon you will have so many boxes of paper you won't know what to do with yourself!

It's always liberating to add a new tool to your arsenal, isn't it? My experience is that (within reason!) the more things you try the more ideas you'll get -- it just makes the whole experience richer and more satisfying, IMHO. Good luck!

I look forward to this. The Agfa looks very nice to me. Black is deep as hell and the highlights are pleasantly warm.
I am about to buy some boxes of Kentmere graded papers cheap from a friend who has given up on darkroom work and gone partly digital...so I will give it a try.

Take note of that fiber base flexibility when wet.
That I really favor over RC's stiff character. Dan

Fiber paper is wonderful. It is almost too nice to use on negatives developed in Rodinal. Pyrocat HD and fiber paper a match made in heaven.
