There are several facts about this whole deal that just do not float.
1. Are you a professional lens cleaner who does work at taking lenses apart to clean them ? Maybe over the 3 months you damaged it in such a way that prevents it from covering 11x14.
2. You have an 8x10 camera with plenty of new film why don't you use it on that camera?
3. Caveat emptor is valid after you keep the lens for 3 months and according to you do things with it mechanically.

I do not know either of you personally except for what has been posted @ APUG but the facts are facts and that is what I judge my opinion on. Sell the 210mm your self and make a $ or 2. You should have done more Googling to find out the coverage of this lens. A post on LF would have given you the places to look to find the information on coverage on the lens. I know it covers 4x5 with movements. But I already have one.

As far the air conditioner goes the salesman would only give a a # to call to a person who gives discounts on A/C repairs. New cars would be covered.

Buyer: Me (StoneNYC)
Seller: Old-N-Feeble

Purchase Info: 3 months ago I purchased a 210mm Graphic-Kowa f/9 lens that Old-N-Feeble claimed was different from the other GK lenses in that it covered 11x14, was selling the lens on eBay for more money but settled on $900 since I also bought a 150mm SS XL from him for $1,400. He agreed that if the 210mm GK lens didn't cover 11x14 that I could return the lens but said he was confident it covered it since he had counted the reflections, but had never tested it on an actual 11x14 camera, only on an 8x10 camera and used movements to check coverage. Old-N-Feeble claimed both lenses were in mint condition and that the 150 SS XL had been returned to him by another buyer and suspected it was simply buyers remorse, and I trusted him on both counts as we had previously had informational exchanges that went well.

When I received both lenses they were both incredibly dirty, not just the front and rear outside elements, but the inside elements as well, especially the 150 SS XL which was filled with dust and grime (no wonder the previous buyer returned the lens), and the 210 GK had a scratch on the rear element right in the center of the lens which was not previously mentioned and the shutter was covered with gunk (I don't even know what it was but it smelled funky and was some sort of build up), fortunately after spending a few hours on each lens and shutter I was able to clean them both up very nicely (except the scratch of course) and was very frustrated but was still glad I finally owned a 210mm that covered 11x14 as I was building an 11x14 camera.

Well 3 months go by and I was able to borrow another members 11x14 camera as mine isn't finished yet, and low and behold the lens does NOT cover 11x14 and clips at the corners even at f/22, so I contact Old-N-Feeble about it and he told me 3 months is too long and I'm stuck with it. I try to explain that the lens doesn't cover 11x14 as he claimed and that as an honorable seller he should try and work with me to resolve the issue amicably.

I proposed a few options that might seem reasonable to him, but asked that he also offer options if he didn't like my suggestions. The first was that he can take the lens back for the full return price of $900 and I'll pay shipping, or he can send back the amount of money equal to a little higher than the price the 210mm GK's are selling on eBay that cover 8x10 only so I proposed returning $450 to me and keeping $450 for himself, after he refused and claimed that I wanted too long, I even went so far as to offer $350 returned (that means I would have payed $550) as to be reasonable. His reply is simply to stop bothering him with this as he wasn't interested in working anything out and his claim was that I waited too long to notify him and that this was a package deal together and he doesn't care because he supposedly won't be selling on the forms again anyway.

His claim on not working with me is that I normally wouldn't be able to get a 150 SS XL for even the total of $2,300 that I payed for both lenses, so it shouldn't matter that the second lens wasn't what he claimed it was, and that it was a package deal and that somehow negates any validity of partially returned monies or returning one of the lenses even though the reason I purchased the lens was because of the claims of it's 11x14 coverage that it does not have. I understand that 3 months is a long time to want to return something but I had no access to an 11x14 camera, but tested it right away as soon as I did and contacted Old-N-Feeble immediately when I realized the coverage error.

Result: Refuses to return lens despite inaccurate coverage claims of the lens.

~Stone

In the UK there is no such thing as too long a time. If the goods are not suitable for the purposes intended and recommended for (coverage of 11x14) then they are not of merchantable quality and the buyer can expect full compensation of at least the money, including p&p, refunded on return of the goods.

This is going to be my only post in this thread regarding my sale to StoneNYC. He took a month to pay for the lenses then kept them for another 3.5 months before demanding a partial refund for the 210 Graphic-Kowa. I gave him a 30 days in his hands no questions asked return privilege and held the funds until well beyond that time. The individual prices he stated were quoted only because they suited him. This was a package deal and those prices are effective only as a package deal. The 150 SSXL alone is worth $2000-2200 and rising. The package price was $2300 for both lenses and this included shipping and insurance. Prices vary greatly on eBay and elsewhere and I've seen the 210 Kowa sell for $600 and higher and that's for the ones that don't illuminate 11x14. The version I sold does indeed illuminate 11x14 because I tested it on my Toyo 810G, first zeroing everything then using 3 inches each of rise and shift. No corners were dark. I do realize there's a difference between "illuminating" and "covering" but it'll be fine stopped down to f/22-32 as it should be. The lens was not scratched nor blotchy when I shipped it. Regarding "dust and grime"... they were both quite clean but sometimes a spec or two of dust creeps in... everyone with any experience knows this. There was definitely no "grime". Stone was constantly trying to get me to lower the prices plus he would PM with information he knew was wrong to try and fool me into making a mistake and promising something that would hurt me. He also claimed the center filter was included which was never the case. Stone has been an absolute pain to deal with. As of this moment, he's solely responsible for me never again selling on a forum. From now on I'll only sell on eBay because even though eBay policies are draconian against sellers at least there are rules that buyers must also follow. Some people seem to think rules of fairness don't apply to them. To top this off Stone takes all the free things he can get claiming he's "broke" yet buys more than nearly anyone else on this forum. Basically, had he badgered me into giving into his demands he would have had a $2200 150 SSXL AND $600 center filter for $1400 delivered. How, in any stretch of the imagination is that fair?

I'll not post all of our correspondence because there are far too many but I invite any moderator who wants to spend the time to go through them. I saved them all. If I were to post them Stone would be quite embarrassed.

Hopefully it will not bleed into other threads again.

I don't know how someone can make a purchase without having the proper means to test it immediately upon arrival. If there's an issue, the seller needs to be notified promptly.

From Sirius Glass, Minolta X-700 with Minolta 35-70 macro zoom and some miscellaneous filters. Great transaction, done quickly and painlessly. He said everything was in top condition and it all was. He also included a surprise bonus of a nice Minolta flash.

First thing I do with a new-to-me lens out of the box is point it toward a window and see what kind of image it projects on the wall. It's not too hard to observe the coverage that way--no camera or optical bench required.

Thirty days is plenty of time to check out the lenses. You waited way too long. Were you really just renting the lenses??

Stone, Old-n-feeble, both of you are at fault here. Stone tried to get something for nothing as is his per usual, and old-n-feeble just plain screwed up with the overpromising. And now it's turned into a gigantic pissing contest. In the immortal word of Rodney King, can't we all just get along?

Back on thread: My second P3 and cases for whole plate Rittreck, lenses and all the other bits arrived this morning. To say I am delighted would be an understatement. I do hope someone can continue in the furrow that Bruce has ploughed for we lucky owners of his system. Everyone that walks any distance with their gear should treat themselves to a Photobackpacker outfit...

Stone's communication was quite good. There was never an uncomfortable silence between questions about product and answers. After money was sent, stuff was shipped to me promptly. One box of items was delayed by a couple of days and Stone communicated that the stuff was going to be a couple of days late without offering some lame excuse. He also sent images of the shipping receipts so that I would have no doubt.
When the products arrived, they were clearly well packaged and exactly as he described them. All are in pristine shape. I haven't started using them yet, but I can tell that the bulk loader and tank will have NO problems. The back also looks to be a fine user too. The only thing I cannot verify until I've developed film is that there are no light leaks. The back does not exhibit any such problem from a visual inspection.
If a problem develops, I suspect I won't have any difficulty negotiating a resolution... but the stuff looks so good, I really doubt there will be a problem.
If I had to rate Stone as a seller, I'd vote "Excellent"
