Still hoping it'll arrive today. I doubt that that packaging would cause any suspicion compared to the 7x17 pt/pd print someone sent me for the alt process exchange... that came in a very large flattened box with the value of the photo being null! :surprised: Never had problems with customs and my print exchanges that I've been participating in for the last year or so.
and um I forgot where I put my print for Ian. Yup that's my excuse at the moment. I should probably sort that out. I have everything to send it out I think.

Yay! It did arrive this morning finally! I love the high contrast image. Great use of negative space and the spotlight too. Thank you, it was well worth the long wait :D

Heather, thank you. Actually the lighting was three 1000W floods from one side (tightly grouped, right above each other). They kept the room warm!

Dennis -- it arrived safely today! Just beautiful! Wonderfully conceived image and masterfully printed!

Vaughn

Thank you Vaughn. I guess the conception is that you will be made to feel vaguely uncomfortable with any personal disorganization. How is that for rationalization?

I saw it as sharing the sofa with a tangled relationship -- the ends of the wires are not visible, a perfect metaphor for such relationships...one doesn't know where (how) it got started and there is no end in sight.

Vaughn

PS...feel free to use my interpretation!:D

It is a negative I have made only 2 prints of, one went to Vaughn and the other to Allen Friday.
What about the idea of after all the exchanges are made, there is some Apug gallery created to show everything? I can see why there might be issues with that idea, but maybe it could be done anyway.

That's assuming that some of us have either scanned the image before sending it, or have a second copy to scan. I am afraid I have done neither -- Heather will have to scan it (I can do the same for Dennis if he has no scan of the one he sent me.)

I didn't scan mine but I plan on making it again sometime. I would be grateful if it is easy for you to do.

Thank you Dennis (dpurdy)!

Today I recieved "TK and Tangled Wire" from dpurdy. It is an outstanding work, a beautiful platinum/palladium print. The subject is simple, a woman seated on a black couch next to a tangle of wire. The effect is over powerful. The curved back to the couch divides the space gracefully. The tones, from the hint of texture in the black couch to the delicate highlights on TK's face, shoulders and breasts, bring the print to life. This is platinum printing at its very best.

Thank you for this terrific print.

Allen Friday

Hi Dennis,

What was I thinking? I'm sorry, I have you down twice. And I'm doubly sorry, I am now just responding. I'm glad though you are OK with the 2 count; my apologies. Times 2 at least. Two folks will get a fantastic print from you I am sure, and I am sure you'll get two terrific prints in return. I guess it may be a blessing for my screw up.

Regards, Art.

Hi Folks,

Sorry, I have been a moving target lately and have just settled down - at least for a few hours today.

Here's an update of who's left to send a print to whom, based on posts in this thread:
Thomas Bertilsson --> keeds
gr82bart --> Thomas Bertilsson
smieglitz --> gr82bart
TheFlyingCamera --> smeiglitz
Allen Friday --> TheFlyingCamera
Ian Leake --> dpurdy
Akki14 --> Ian Leake
kberquist --> dpurdy
KWhitmore --> kberquist
Rlibersky --> KWhitmore
keeds --> Rlibersky

So let's get printing and mailing folks! There is no special gallery for us, so maybe we can just post images in the FAN Social Group Gallery? Also, make sure to post if you sent a or received a print in this thread.

BTW my print is being made at the lab now. Will send it out soon.

Regards, Art.

Dennis...here is the scan of your print. I ask for forgiveness for my poor PhotoShop ability...I did the best I could to reproduce it accurately. But at least people wll be able to see the image. The smoothness of the tones and print color are not close (her forehead is not that bright...beautiful even tonality...and the print not so chocolate-colored).

I finally arrived at a print I'm happy with. It took a much longer time than I had thought, and I apologize for that. I just didn't want to send something out the door that I wasn't happy with! I hope you understand.

The print is in the archival washer right now, and will hang to dry overnight, then over Thursday and Friday it will be flattened, and eventually mailed out Saturday.

I am, once again, very sorry for the delay.

Finally - print mailed out today. Cashier said that it's going to take 5-10 business days. I hope it gets there safe.
