Excessive but even frame spacing in Hasselblad due to incorrect loading of film?

I just developed two films from a recent outing with my Hasselblad 501cm. The same magazine was used for both films.

First film: Even and perfect frame spacing as usual.
Second film (loaded just when it started to get dark): Excessive (but rather even) spacing of frames. Only 11 (or less) exposures! Didn't notice anything was wrong while shooting.

Although I've been shooting with Hasselblad cameras for rather many years, I've never seen this happen before. Could the camera or magazine have broken that suddenly?

When searching APUG I found an old post saying that faulty loading resulting in the film edge getting over the "tab" on the magazine insert would result in excessive (and uneven) frame spacing. If this is correct it would be a relief. I know I was in a hurry when loading the second film, since it was getting dark.

Has anyone experience of this? I will of course find out if the magazine or camera is OK after developing the next film, but it would still be nice to know!

Your film back likely needs a CLA. They can go a bit wonky as dirt and crud collects in them.

Yes, what he said. I had the same and similar problems. CLAs corrected the problems.

I doubt your back came in need of a CLA from one roll to next!!!

Since you mentioned the first roll was fine it's likely you did something on loading the second that set the back wonky. Try a third roll loaded with care and see what happens.

I would sacrifice a film, load it carefully, shoot it, and see what the results are like. If you think you loaded in a hurry, and maybe got something wrong (I've done it myself), then you probably did.
