The Canon T-series got a 3-pole connector/wiring. Thus yielding prior to releasing a intermediate/metering position of the release switch, same as with the body release.
Thus offerering the same metering feature when mounting the remote release at some grip.
I considered this standard and never gave it further thought.

Now I realized that my Nikon cameras only got 2-pole wiring, thus yielding solely releasing at the remote release. I am surprised.

To be fair, one may argue on how important such metering feature is, as typically when usung a grip (under the lens, at a ball-had etc.) one wants to use as little manipulation at the camera as possible. And for instance does not want to correct exposure anyway.

How is the situation with other makers on remote release wires/switches?

Rollei SLX to 6008AF have two buttons on the electronic cable. One to release the shutter and one to lift the mirror, if desired to lift the mirror first. Looks like the 6008AF actually has a two-position shutter release on the camera, so the camera can autofocus focus first, then release the shutter pushing in farther. But I don't think they ever updated the electronic cable release. Of course the Hy6 has its own different design release. I don't have that to try.

In terms of Nikon, another nice feature of the N75 is the infrared shutter release. It can be configured to be immediate or to activate the self timer.

Myt Horseman has a six-foot extension electric switch. Only with a single button. The 'extra' button on the handle is the release lock and there is a third 'battery check' button with a little light on the back of the handle.
