The Canon T-series got a 3-pole connector/wiring. Thus yielding prior to releasing a intermediate/metering position of the release switch, same as with the body release.
Thus offerering the same metering feature when mounting the remote release at some grip.
I considered this standard and never gave it further thought.
Now I realized that my Nikon cameras only got 2-pole wiring, thus yielding solely releasing at the remote release. I am surprised.
To be fair, one may argue on how important such metering feature is, as typically when usung a grip (under the lens, at a ball-had etc.) one wants to use as little manipulation at the camera as possible. And for instance does not want to correct exposure anyway.
