Yesterday was a holiday in the U.S., and most businesses in Rochester aren't open yet at 12 min. before 8 a.m., so it's not surprising that the announcement came through first on the other side of the pond.

Kodak did not have a holiday yesterday AFAIK, just schools, banks and local governments. Many people do take this week off as it is the school winter holiday.

Kodak's day is 8 - 5 in most locations.

I believe more announcements are in the works, but not sure yet. I'm sure that they did this just to spite nay sayers on APUG!

Honestly, I really don't like the name Ektar. It sounds an awful lot like this and that is not a good thing.

They should call it Kodacolour CLS. In which CLS= Custer's Last Stand.

Apart from that, I will reserve judgement. I may well like it more in LF if and when I take up RA4.

I've only shot 1 roll of Ektar in 35mm, none in 120. Is it like E100VS in negative format?

also, will these be available in 10sht boxes onyl, or will 50sheeters be there too?

Not bad for the Evil Corporation that is not "committed" in its "support" of analog photography. I'm sure someone will find a downside to this, and whinge about it.

Mike it's not the film division who aren't committed to Analog photography, they've shown that many times over the last few years.

Our problem is that Kodak as a corporation is struggling to find it's new identity in the market place, and sometimes that means we get mixed messages about their commitment to the products we use.

This roll out of Ektar in large formats is another positive step.

If anyone is concerned that it's "only" 4x5" and 8x10", keep in mind that Kodak are open to special order cuttings, as they've done for the ULF community in the past. If you want/need 5x7, 11x14 or 7x17, or whatever else, get some people together and look into a special order. If you cant get enough people together for a special order, well, now you know why Kodak don't sell it in that size to begin with.

When I read the Inside Analog post regarding an exciting new announcement; I was hoping for Ektar 400!

I don't know, seems like kind of a disappointment to me. I was expecting a new emulsion, not just a popular emulsion in a new format. I mean, it's great for LF photographers, but for people like me with 120 and smaller cameras, it does nothing.

Not Fotch but, the Fuji Hunt Xpress kit is not available in the USA. I emailed Fuji Hunt a few weeks ago and was told not available.

If it is true:

1. GREAT NEWS! Any additional large format film is greatly welcome.

2. It will be a preliminary step to axing other films in these formats. My money is on an E-6 emulsion: E-100VS.

I dread the day when 400NC goes away in sheets. I fear it won't be long, personally.
