Ektachrome in 120 and 4x5” released!

Don't think I'll be buying any 120 at 70.00 a 5pk from B&H. Too much.
I sent an email to B and H asking them if they'd split a box and sell singly and how much for each roll. I'd like to try a roll before committing to 5. I'll report back once they answer.

B&H sells Provia F for less than 9 bucks a roll (42 USD for a pro pack). vs 14 bucks a roll for Ektachrome. Add state taxes. Unique photo is cheaper 60 bucks for a pro pack of new Ektachrome. It's going to be interesting to see how it goes. I recently bought a bunch of Velvia for a project, I have that to burn through. I love medium format chrome, love color negative too. I'm all Kodak on color negative films.

Do you scan? If you do, how do you find Velvia vs. Kodak negative color (which one?)?

I don't scan negative film. I scan 6x17 Fujichrome. If I'm going to print I either go to my friend's shop and have a RA-4 print made or use an ink jet printer.

Photo Pro in Cedar Rapids Iowa is who I use to make prints, very good work.

You can buy a 5-pack of 120 Ektachrome 100 for $49.95 from the FPP store.

Jim B.
I see that. I've never done business with them. I have plenty of Provia F and Velvia right now. I will get around to the Ektachrome at some point.

I have just bought and paid $51.74 for a 5-pack of E100 in 120 format from Freestyle. Just $1.79 more.

(Edit: clarified film format)

OK I snapped. I just pre-ordered a pro pack of New Ektachrome from FPP. 50 bucks plus 4 dollars shipping no tax.

$10.80 a roll for 120 film, and this is cheap. I miss the 20th century!

I just got their response. They will not split a box to sell single rolls.

Just getting back to Wayne. I now print chromes via precise Portra 160 internegatives. This generally requires masking the chrome original. I've been doing some of this either via 8x10 contacts or by projecting 4x5 originals onto 8x10 interneg film. Getting some very high quality results (plus a few inevitable bellyflops as I learn the full parameters). I mostly now shoot Ektar color neg film and print RA4 paper directly from that. But there are low contrast situations, particularly in overcast light, where Ektachrome does better. This new film is interesting. There's very little latitude in the highlights, but the color balance is quite good, it's true 5500K daylight balanced (I tested for that), and the finest grained Ektachrome yet. I still have a box of E100G 4x5 to thaw and use up. This new film isn't radically different, but does have certain minor improvements, which makes it the "better" version of what was already Kodak's "best" E6 offering. It should do well.

FPP and Unique Photo offers 120 E100 in single rolls. I think B&H may have a volume commitment with Fuji. Which is fine. Makes it easier for the manufacturer.
I went to both sites and couldn't find individual roll sales. Do you have links?

I expect local camera stores will sell individual rolls. But a 5-pack really isn't a big deal unless you just want a token roll for testing.

I'm still waiting for FPP, 120 E100, I think they are trying to amass enough pre-orders to get a better price, they charged my credit card when I ordered.
