Yes, I will give it a try – I have read that it is a little tricky to process, but I really have nothing to lose

Nothing tricky about it. I have successfully processed in D76, ID11, Caffenol, Reversal, XTOL and a few others.

Well, I finally processed my first roll of 5222. I just followed the MDC @ started with Adonal @ 1+50 for 11 mins

From first glance the contrast is better then I was hoping (I was expecting it to be on the flat side), but I have yet to check out the grain (grain doesn't scare me. Actually, I want grain!)

Just a quick one - I didn't pre-wash and noticed the dev was very purple when I tipped it out. Is there any benefit of pre-washing this film?

Cheers

No, a prewash is not going to be of any advantage. I have developed many rolls of thiss film and I never use a prewash.
