My only direct contact with him was by mail when we did a print exchange, but he seemed like a really nice guy. My sincere condolences to his family.

I had missed his posting, and thought perhaps he was on a photo safari to some exotic place. He is already missed, I hope Nina and family can understand what a big contribution he made to APUG. Best wishes in the future for Nina and family.

Farewell, Dr.Bob. You will be remembered for your kindness, sense of humour and your expert knowledge you were always willing to share.

I just found out about this when returning home from a few days away and am deeply saddened. Bob was one of the first members of our community, and I truly believe the small group of great folks we began with like Bob set the tone for APUG's friendly atmosphere. His contributions to APUG will no doubt live on for years to come. Like Thomas said, a true loss.

Truly, Dr. Bob was a fine man to have around the forum.

He will be missed.

He will also be remembered as long as any of us are alive.

Thats sad

Right from the early days Dr Bob proved to be an 'APUG' gentleman. He will be missed.

Condolences to the family

I just saw this thread and clicked on the link to his gallery, which David has so kindly posted. How fitting that the last shot he posted was a tribute to a passing era. Perhaps he did this for a reason, a proper goodbye to the community.

Sean, could you please set aside a place for him to be remembered on the site? I fear that it will not be a place with just one person's memory residing there. A small "chapel" where we can go to vist him, with an image and a few words of a bio written by a friend, would be nice. Let's be thankful that he was shared with us for this small time. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. tim

Good bye dr bob.

I tracked this back to another thread about how we got our "handles"

Remember the Muppets? There was one rather obnoxious orange stuffed dog, named Dr. Bob, who did unnecessary surgical operations on his fellow Muppets with the assistance of Nurse Piggy. At that time I was working on the Navy’s equipment with similar results, according to my associates. As I had just received my Ph.D. in engineering, the nickname stuck. That and my motto: “If it ain’t broke, break it!”

Never knew him except through his replies to threads which I always looked for. As a relative newcomer it soon became that all replies to threads on this site have good intentions, but his replies also had weight and real substance.

It's a great shame that we cannot look forward to his contributions in the future.

This is sad news indeed. It is somewhat consoling that his words, humour, kindness and a bit of his knowledge will live on here and continue to have a positive effect.

Dr. Bob

There is no greater tribute to Dr. Bob than to say: "He was greatly esteemed by his peers for his insights, knowledge, and humanity". May we all aspire to emulate Dr. Bob's devotion to the joy of creating personal photographs .

Excellent idea Tim. Another thought would be to name one of the galleries after Dr Bob.

Regards,
John

I can incorporate something into the new site design. Maybe a link "In memory of" or something similar.
