Don DeGroat 17 May 1949 - 14 February 2014

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Don DeGroat after a short illness. Don passed away at his home with his wife, Pat, by his side on 14 February 2014.
Don was a good friend, passionate photographer and skilled darkroom printer. I met Don here on APUG a few years ago and we've since talked on a regular basis. Don was always eager to share his wisdom and knowledge about photography, darkroom printing and life. Photography and printing was a passion of Don's until the the end, I recall on the last day we talked, he expressed his disappointment (but not resentment) at not getting the chance to print that day. He was a firm believer in the quality of a well made fiber print. I regret not having the opportunity to meet him in person. Don might not have been the most active poster on APUG, but he loved this forum a lot.
My deepest sympathy and condolences goes out to his friends and family, especially Pat, his wife, who had kept me updated on Don's health during his last days.
I will dearly miss my friend.

I will never forget the kindness and friendship you extended to me
All the wisdom and knowledge you so freely and passionately shared
I will miss the good advice, I will even miss the odd arguments we had

May your your laughter forever be a song, though your F5's shutter is now silent
