Does your F2 make a loud "ping" when you fire it?

Enough about guns already. Please get over yourselves. Your gun mania is just not interesting to the rest of the world.
Sirius, look at the thread title, and ask yourself if maybe at least some of these gun references might be just a tiny bit tongue in cheek.

It's interesting to fellow maniacs... and a hell of a lot more interesting than the topic - whining about a magnificent camera which needs a bit of maintenance.

A light discussion about firearms becomes a mania. I'd rather gun owners be maniacal about the knowledge of guns than be ignorant.

Never the less I see a lot of parallels in photography and firearms. Film photography even more so. Many of the skills cross over from one MANIACAL OBSESSION to the other MANIACAL OBSESSION.

Most people on this forum own a few different cameras in a few different formats. Most gun owners own a few different firearms in a few different formats. Whether a 110, 127, 135, 120, 220, 4x5, 8x10 or SLR, viewfinder, rangefinder, TLR, guessfinder, pinhole, or .22, .22LR, .38, 9mm, 357, .303, 30-06, .50, 20mm, 105mm, rifle, pistol, canon, carbine.

I am an enthusiast of both hobbies and am not yet institutionalized.

Gun mania?

Typical, mention firearms and you are labeled. I'll stop talking about guns when people stop talking about B&W film.Get over yourself, 35mm rise to glory was the celebration of color films. If I had my way 35mm B&W film would be outlawed and police would confiscate it.

The mirror may be loose in the holder, maybe inject some CA behind the mirror to tighten the gap.

The camera I've been using most lately makes several different sounds. One half second goes "ZZZZZzzzzzzzp". One fiftieth goes "ZZp". One one twenty fifth, and all higher speeds, go "thuk". I go "$hit" when I take a picture of the lenscap. What is it?

And, I think all extremists should be hung, drawn, and quartered.

Anyway... this thread needs a resolution. We just can't have a pinging Nikon F2 out there.

Chip, what are you thinking of doing with the F2? Sell it, get it CLA'd, or live with it?

Maybe it's not his F2 but his Iphone alert.

No,no. You'd use a Deardorff on a barn. Or a flamethrower, depending on intent.

Medieval artillery = first practical internal combustion engine.

Or a Nokia.

HA!! I don't have an Iphone or digi camera. I'll live w/the PING, but won't use the camera, until someone gives me $140 for it--less than I paid.

Do the photos come out alright? Are the shutter speeds more or less accurate? Who cares what it sound like then! My Promaster PK2000 Super Duper sounds like a bag of lays when you advance and the shutter sounds like a sumo running into a glass door. It's accurate and churns out good exposures. I'm shooting photos not playing front chair in a symphony.

That's a good price for an F2. Which metering head (if any) and does the meter work?

I have three F2 Photomics and two F2S's. So no more for me unless I find a plain-prism titanium model.

I got one with a bullet hole in it if you are interested.

It has a needle (DP-1?) and it's accurate.

Hmm. An F2 Photomic with working meter. Should be an easy sale at $140 regardless of pinging sound.

I've had to force myself to stop collecting them.
