not to mention the f2 is nothing more than a over sized fm
I would agree with you except you are wrong.
Unless you mean any camera is just like any camera. Then I would agree with you...

I'm sending my F2 back and will never touch one again. I don't think Nikon got a pro camera right until the F3.
I kept looking for some type of sarcasm alert.I'm sending my F2 back and will never touch one again. I don't think Nikon got a pro camera right until the F3.
I am not close to a Camera Tech or a Nikon Expert, but when you say A Lot.......A lot of the F2 that Nikon made, or "a lot" of the 10 that are mentioned in this thread.?If you read the previous posts, you would know that a lot of F2s have the problem.
My Hasselblad does not ping, it goes THA-WACK! announcing its presence.
I think about that all the time. It is secondary for doing a Repair/Maintenance, but it is always a thought.......I am Fixing/Preserving a world class camera, that will never be made again, for some young and upcoming photographer......maybe a photographer that is not even born yet.Nikon F2,s are around 40 years old. They are just about the best of any mechanical camera ever made, they contain 1500 individual parts. I belive that if you are buying such a camera you should factor in a proper service to the amount you are going to spend. The bottom line is they do not make these cameras any more so take a thought for the people who will want to use one in another 40 years time and look after them now. Any new camera that may be made in the future will not be anything like a F2.........enjoy them now and leave them in good working order.
Hasselblads are supposed to have a SEXEY sound, but I've never heard one.My Hasselblad does not ping, it goes THA-WACK! announcing its presence.
It looks like my well crafted humorous post was deleted. Oh well...
My Argus C3 pings, I think it has to do with being an older mechanical machine. Both my C3's ping when fired along with my Nikkormat. My OM-1 doesn't however. Most of my fully mechanical bodies one way or another make strange sounds. They're getting on in years and I'm not the original or even second owner of these machines. As long as it doesn't effect my photos I chalk it up to character and leave it at that.
I am kind of shocked to read this. I always thought the Nikon F2 was the pinnacle of the 35mm "Pro Camera" world.
I appreciated it.
The F2 was a pinnacle up until the F-3 came out.

I feel like we need to get these cameras into our Wills/Trusts, and leave them to some kind of organization or person(s) that will care for them after we are gone...so they do not end up in a scrap pile, or used for target practice, or stored on the side of a building for 50 years.
If you know what i mean.
On my bucket list is to see if you can actually drive a nail with a F. Probably more urban legend than truth.
I don't have anyone that would appreciate my collection (100+ 35mm alone most are pro bodies) to leave it too, hopefully I'll live long enough to dispose/sell them to someone who can appreciate them.but when I move to the nursing home I'm sure they will be thrown in the trash.
I won't miss the F-2's though, add a motor drive and its battery pack and aperture control unit and its absolute monstrosity that handles like a sledge hammer when you need a scalpel. The F-3 is better suited to motor work.
Perhaps i should start a post...see if we can create some kind of Trust/Foundation.On my bucket list is to see if you can actually drive a nail with a F. Probably more urban legend than truth.

Cushion foams? How is the exact position of the mirror then established over time?
My T50 goes CLICK THUNK RIIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPP Ku-CHUNK!
No dainty 'ding'
My SX-70 goes Click-pshhhzzzzz-chkchk. You can hardly hear it if you are in the next county.
It does, in the Fuji film factory. muhahahahaI always imagined when I use a Polaroid that when the photo rolls out it goes KA-Ching! like a cash register.
