Really Suzanne, I know you want to organize the next APUG Conference. Come on. Admit it!

Regards, Art.

I agree...Suzanne needs to be running something with her organizational skills. ...maybe a workshop on organizing ourselves!

Darkroom Workshop

Greetings from Frenchtown, NJ...

I am available to make the trip up on the weekend of the 26th and 27th. I can also bring my prints to hang at that time. It may even work out that I will be able to schedule a photo shoot with a model who had wanted to work with me for awhile. If that happens, then the trip will certainly be very worthwhile for me in many respects.

I'll keep a look on this thread. I may just need some directions.

Thanks for everyone's efforts here.

James

Drew and Art.... pshawww... my organizational skills?? Believe me, starting a thread when I feel the need for a little photographic get together is pretty easy!!!! :D

I'm not sure about the drop off day for the show. But I know that Whitey and Gene plan to hang the show on the 26th. Hopefully, we can all pitch in a little to get that task overwith so Whitey and Gene can see some of the demos.

As for the demos... polaroid transfer with Art, photograms with Gene's friend, and Bruce Barlow's paper/developer demo!

Trying to keep this get together free, but I'm sure drinks and/or dinner would be a good idea for those giving a demo, and maybe a small fee to cover costs of materials.

I'm looking forward to it... should be a fun weekend!

Pete... consider yourself signed up!!

Fortunately, Belmont is just one town over fromthe dining destination of MetroWest...WALTHAM! There is a good instance of at least a dozen different cuisuines...Mexican, Italian, Indian, Thai, etc., etc.

Bump!!

We are just a couple of weeks away. Those of you have have volunteered to demo anything, let me or Whitey know if there's anything beyond the usual darkroom supplies that you might need. ARt? Bruce? Gene's friend?

I think we are meeting at 10am. We will try to get the show hung up in the am. If it takes longer then we can maybe rotate folks, so everyone gets a chance to see all the demos.

I'm off for a few days, but I will check back in later in the week. Looking forward to this!

Uh.... Bill. It's the 26th, but you got the 10AM right.

Time to break out the reading glasses - and I was proud that I could see the iso setting on my old Pentax 6x7 :-(. Of course I had to hold the camera at arm's length to see those tiny numbers on the dial....

Ed just needs chems for paper dev, stop and fix. He will bring his own paper for demonstrations. He suggested that if anyone wants to try their hand at a photogram, they should bring their own paper... or is there some paper lying around to be used?

I have two questions...

1) Once I finally find my way to the Belmont School, where will the workshop be held?
and
2) I will probably come up Friday. Is anyone getting together for some photography or anything else? I do not know the Boston area at all.

I'm going to assume there will be about 10 people? I will bring all the equipment and materials for both 35mm slides and 120 transparencies. I just need a long table, an nearby outlet and a place/another table to dry the results. Plus I will need hot water (doesn't have to be running).

To those coming, please bring 35 mm slides and/or 120 transparencies.

I will bring Polaroid 669 for 35mm and Type 59 for 120 chromes.

Regards, Art.

See you there. I'll bring:

My paper/developer tests for folks to do the selection exercise with.

Some Film Test Kits, for sale for $10.

Some 'Camera Repair in the Field with Richard Ritter' DVDs - $20.

A small monitor, player, and 'Printing with Fred Picker' that I'll set up and just leave running.

I'm looking forward to this, and thanks in advance to all who've worked so hard to make it happen!

Belmont Hill School
350 Prospect Street
Belmont, MA

just south of RT. 2 off exit 58
directions from their website below.

http://www.belmont-hill.org/home/content.asp?id=37

We will be meeting in the arts building which is the first building at the main entrance to the school. Find the two flag poles, and the door to the building is just past them to the right. You'll find your self right in the darkroom area. Whitey will probably put up some signs. We'll see you at 10 am on Saturday.

Remember to bring a 35mm or 120 transparency if you want to try the polaroid transfer, and if you want to try the photograpms, bring some paper!

And don't forget your prints for the show!!!!

Yaaaaaaaay, Bruce.

Unfortunately, as many already know, I won't be able to make this one as I will be surrounded by a sea of boxes. We are moving to new digs on Thursday so Saturday will still be chaos. The good news is that the new digs include a reasonable sized darkroom (6x14), a good sized office and finishing area (18x24) and a huge open space (28x32) without obstructions, with a lighting grid that will serve as studio space and can also double for classroom activities. The studio will follow the other space by some two months but should be ready to go before the snow flies. Additionally, there are some great hiking trails on the property, even some that lead to old ruins, a nearby pristine pond, etc. We will be using the space for Fine Focus and Digital Workflow Workshops and it will be open for APUG and WENELF activities as well. So Suzanne, start thinking about NH in the Winter.

Hey Ted, I'm packing and will be on my way in a few minutes to check your new digs out... j/k

Sorry to hear you won't be able to make it. I ordered the new loupe and should have it for the weekend. Thanks for a great workshop last week.

Bruce, I'll see you this week. Thanks, too, for a great workshop. Where's Richard??? I want to thank him too.

Anyhow, I'll be leaving here Friday morning and staying at the Motel 6 in Framingham. See everyone early Saturday.

I'll be there at about 8 on Saturday. Signs will be going up at that time. Just head toward belmont from exit 58 from Rt 2. Bear right at the small rotary about 500 yards in from the highway and take the entrance to the parking lot immediately in front of you. The big building right there at the top of the parking lot, the one that has an "Admissions" sign on the front door is the art center. The door you want is on the left side by the flags (just before the flagpoles, Suzanne).

Here's the Mapquest page for directions as well.

617-484-4410x282 for a contact about any details that need checking. I may be out but will return your call ASAP.

Looking forward to this!!

Is there an agenda for the day's events? Something has come up that may limit my attendance to 1/2 the day and a schedule would help me out, should that need arise.

I have some photo treasures that are going un-used in my world. Color paper, misc safelights, etc. that I will be bringing to trade or give away. I encourage others to do the same.

I also have an Omega D4 4x5 enlarger with the Chromega head for anyone who is can put it to use. Any offer entertained- I hate to see such a great tool just gathering dust.
