moopheus: don't despair! i am sure those stacks of lit. mags. in your garage were printed on nice paper which can be conveniently ripped out (binding permitting) and emulsioned over by hand to bridge the gap between your old and new hobby...

Anyone have new darkroom photos? Been awhile.......
I bought a new a few months ago and am planning to start my build by the spring. Hoping to post photos here as the work progresses. Ive been going back thru this amazing thread for ideas. Dont think mine will be as intricate as some, but will have running water, ventilation and other necessities....
...maybe I wont wait till spring!

I have plenty of space, but limted cash. My darkroom has been slowly evolving for about a year and a half now, the Durst M670 (colour head) and 80mm Nikkor are the latest additions. I just resurected the old F60 - it's good to have a diffuser and condenser enlarger. Opposite the enlarges out of shot is a Jobo CPE2 and 8x10 developing trays.

As I said before, here are the pictures of my modest darkroom. It's only a beginning. Now I'm trying to find a way to put a fan on the window that will not made light leaks inside the room and also that will keep the room hot enough in our Canadian winters.

I am also Welsh but welsh is not my first language, I am sure you will understand this.
To upload your photos you need to resize them in Photoshop to 650 pixels at longest side and then "save for web".
Click on the "Gallery" tab in Apug and then "My Photos" which will appear under the Gallery tab when you have selected it.
Click on "Upload my Photos" and follow the on screen instructions. On the "Browse" button that appears find the photo that you saved for the web that you wish to upload.
This is one way that should work.
If you have problems then ask again.

Near the bottom of the screen where one replies to a thread, there is a button for "manage attachments". This is where you attach photos to a post. It's easy.

Did not notice that you are a member, Matt is correct that you have to be a subscriber to have access to the galleries and upload photos there.
Have a look at subscribing, it is really reasonable and there are many advantages to becoming a subscriber.

This is my garage. It's a mess to say the least. There is light leak everywhere, so daytime is for van Dyke and nighttime for traditional printing and so on...

My Darkroom

Ok well when I was 23 I embarked on building this darkroom.
it was the first time i had built a darkroom myself.

The first image is my two enlargers one is a 2000W durst CLS 300 10x10" for printing colour and the second is an Ilford Multigrade head on a durst 1200.

The second image is of my jobo processor and some table space poking in there.

The third image is of one of my sinks and chemicals and film reels and stuff

The fourth image is of my Kreonite Promate 24" colour paper processor, my revolving door and my kodak LVT 8x10" film recorder

In Image 5 you can see my minilab printer, a c-41 leader feed processor
and the replenishment tanks for my Tecnolab E-6 Dip and Dunk processor

image 6 you can see the drying cabnet of one of my E-6 dip and dunk processor, my Kreonite pro mate colour paper processor my revolving door and
naughty me my optronics colour getter 2 (8x10) drum scanner on the floor.


I have 2 other rooms in my darkroom with other equipment like my black and white processor, an ilfochrome processor, lightboxes for cutting film, film fridge, a few roll boxes for storing paper rolls, silver recovery unit, and a section of digital equipment i kinda didnt show hehehehehe. I love my toys. If anyone wants to see more rooms of my darkroom send me a message.

so anyway this is a sneak peek into my dark little abode.

I'd love to have such an excellent space to work. I have a 12'x12' darkroom in my new place, but I rent and can't do anything permanent. Also, I couldn't even build a sink stand correctly after 3 attempts... I'm no carpenter.

Well.. my monster enlarger project is dead. Between the device needing 3phase power and a team of engineers to re-wire plus rusting like mad I decided to reclaim the space. All that remains is the frame and I have built 2 large shelves into it. Sad to see the beast die, but the extra shelving is much needed

I'm 62, and I have a table in my darkroom that I built, with help from my dad, when I was in Junior High School (about 50 years ago). It started out as a place for my ham radio gear, and later my dad modified it so my mom could use it as a sewing table. When my mom died, I brought it home and kept it in a corner of the basement until we built a new home and I designed a new darkroom. It was the perfect size to serve as a work/print finishing table, so I dusted it off and replaced the top to recycle it to its very functional new application.

So not only was I able to recycle an old piece of furniture for a new use, I was also able to retrieve something from my childhood that makes it possible for me to reconnect with my dad who died almost 30 years ago.

Well, not in my darkroom (so a bit off topic), but I am right now sitting at a desk that my dad put together 50 years ago. It looked homemade then, and now has 50 years of wear on it. I wouldn't part with it for anything and hope after me it goes to one of his grandchildren.

What enlarger was it you had?

It was a 'Little John' pulse xenon. I got it for pennies on the dollar from a company that worked in aerial photography. It could take negs larger than 11x14. The frame is so heavy there is no way for me to move it so i left it and built the shelves around it. Not sure what I'll do if we ever move house! It was one of those 'seemed like a good idea at the time' purchases

That's cool. My mother died a couple of years ago and my father has made rumblings about moving to a smaller house. He's almost 70. I grew up there, but I'd miss my darkroom most of all. I can barely even force my self to think about it.
