Do I see a keyboard stand being put to use there...?

I like seeing these makeshift darkrooms the bring back good memories of my early darkroom days and the excitement of seeing those images come up for the first time.

Yes, it's one of our keyboard stands. This is a double-decker one which let's me place a few things up on the upper level.

Surprised to see those steps in front of the 5108, they aren't that tall :D Well mine isn't, but then I dug a hole in the floor to get mine to fit in the darkroom

Nice set up.

Hello everyone

As some of you may know over the past few months I have been busy building at a new premise in lane cove with my dear friend Sandra Barnard whom appears with me in the last image. This is our darkroom. I hope you enjoy a sticky beak through some of it.

The first picture here shows our 2 mural enlargers with vacuum walls, please excuse the wooden crates on the floor they are an exhibition due to be shipped overseas which we just printed.

Image number shows one of our 4x5" enlargers which we use for proofing jobs etc, next to it on the right is a paper coffin, and on the left just peaking in there is the second vacuum wall. Upon the shelf are diffusion boxes for the enlargers.

Image number 3 shows our Kodak LVT film recorder in the background next to the door, Our 50" Ra-4 paper processor with numerous boxes of paper below it and a paper coffin. In the foreground is another 10x10" enlarger.

Image number 4 is the same 10x10" enlarger as was in image number 3. The black box in the wall is the paper take up to our 50" ilfochrome processor. with boxes of paper below. This processor can also process Black and white resin paper.

Image number 5 is one of our light tables in the mural printing room.

Image number 6 shows the two paper processors the 50" RA-4 in the foreground and the 50" Ilfochrome processor in the background.

Image number 7 is of the black and white fiber printing rooms darkroom sink, we also have 2 durst enlargers in there im yet to photograph.

Image number 8 is of the filing draws and stairs up to the mezzanine level where we do all our film scanning and digital work, also rest and relax. On the far left you can see the kitchen area.

Image number 9 is looking down the hallway into the kitchen and bathroom.

Image 10 is a picture of our daylight chemical prep sink.

Image 11 shows inside the film processing room where film is loaded.

Image 12 shows my C-41 dip and dunk processor

image 13 shows the main room of the lab where prints are spotted examined and packaged away.

Image 13 shows the main room with studio lighting on

Image 14 is me and sandy.

I Hope you enjoy having a little look around, I will show u some more of the space soon.

Steve -

Any darkroom that has a mezzanine floor just has to be cool!!!

Great set-up. Like the print of the miner - his heads bigger than reality, that's a BIG print!

I assume this is a commercial set-up, so I wish you all the success with it.

Steve, that is fantastic! Thanks for showing us. Its really nice to see 'the real deal'

One thing seems missing. No Jobo? What are you using for B&W film processing?

exposing room

I meant to post this years ago now - when this thread began... (it WAS that long, no??). This is the exposing room for our lab where we host workshops here in LA. But it began life as my personal darkroom. It's fairly modest in resources/space - but it's designed to eke every possible bit of usefulness out of a fairly small space (exposing room is 5x9 feet, lab is 12x22 feet. Enlarger is 4x5 DeVere wall-mounted with a removable table - the floor is a vacuum easel. Accomodates prints up to 50x60 inches.

I don't use Jobo, i am not confident with the drum idea, what if it leaks? etc....
I process all my film via dip and dunk or by hand.I can and do have the equipment to dip and dunk black and white film however I love to process black and white by hand simply because different clients prefer different developers to suit their desired outcome. I feel this and dip and dunk is also the safest method of film process, I have not uploaded all the images of my darkroom in a few days I shall show some more.

Well, this is my darkroom. I don't have running clean water and waste water comes in and out in buckets but other then that, I am very happy with my setup. It suits my needs very well. I hope to ad a sink someday.

I also have an Omega DII that I use for 4X5 that is not pictured because it is outside this area but besides that, this is my setup.

I'm jealous of all you guys. At least I have a bathroom large enough to set up a folding table for the trays though.

I would LOVE to build a darkroom, even small, in some future dwelling of mine.

Here is my first darkroom. Equipment has been collected over the years, but only recently I was able to acquire an 8x10 enlarger (Durst CLS-2000). Before I discovered the 8x10 enlarger, I had planned to install on the counter a 5x7 Zone VI and a 4x5 Saunders LPL enlargers. I may still set them up on my dry area counter top.
It is a work in progress and will change as I start using it. I also hope members can provide constructive suggestions.

Jon
