I opened a new bottle of Legacy Pro L110 developer recently (1-2 weeks ago). The bottle was well-sealed. I transferred 250 ml to other plastic bottles (intending to keep them full, and use the remaining half in the original bottle, first).

Today, I saw two things -
- Some drops that had adhered to the top of the bottle have turned a dark brown (presumably - the liquid in contact with the air filling 50% of the bottle)
- More importantly, there is considerable sedimentation (actually - flat crystallization, about 1-2 mm thick and covering the base) in the original bottle

Is this a known thing? Should I use the developer, or attempt to dissolve the crystals? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you warm it gently, see if the crystals go back into solution. I remember having this happen to Ilfochrome developer even before opening. It's so concentrated might just have salted out of solution. Ilford recommended warming and redissolving the crystals, I would try it.

My bottle did the same thing after having it opened for nearly a year, never noticed any side effects. It is still usable, you just need to use really warm water when mixing it to dissolve them. The bottle took me around 1 1/2 years to finish.

Thank you for posting this information. I searched this forum using "Legacy Pro L110 Sedimentation" to find this thread.
Not only did I experience this happening with the L110, my bottle of the "new" HC110, purchased recently, does the same thing.
Cheers!
Russ
