Well, that wasn't exactly a closeup. Here's one that is.
This is an ordinary chicken egg photographed with a pinhole on my 8x10 camera using axis light. That is, the light is coming on the axis of the center of the film through the pinhole. This is done with a complex setup using a 45 degree angled piece of transparent mirror. For the mirror, I bought a sheet of that kind of glass they use on those mirror buildings. The light was provided by a single spot. This requires the use of black material to prevent an unwanted image showing up through reflection.
The exposure was timed by the light bulb itself burning out. I think it was several hours.
Because it is an enlargement made in the camera itself, it's an example of the condition that I described previously where the object is closer to the pinhole than the pinhole is to the image plain. Because it's an egg, which has a very uniform surface that doesn't have much in the way of identifiable features, It really doesn't show the softening image as the distance from the object decreases. The camera bellows was probably stretched out more than 24 inches. Just guessing. Didn't write it down.
