If you have some surplus citric acid, mix it equal parts with sodium bicarbonate and white/icing sugar. A fizzy type of sherbet that amuses kids for a while.

Is this really edible?

During the American Civil War friends and relatives would make powered lemonade mix from citric acid and lemon extract for soldiers. According to letters home it was much appreciated to mask the bad water in many camps.

It's all food grade but you wouldn't eat it by the spoonful. Lick finger, dab into the space dust, have a lick, oooh it fizzes, let the kids finish it off.

I was thinking about the two 39yo kids that live in my home.

For film I use 15 grams per liter of Citric acid for my stop bath. This is the simple formula for Kodak SB-8 stop bath given by Stephen Anchell in the Darkroom Cookbook. I buy citric acid in bulk from a grocery store, very cheap so I can mix fresh every time I develop.

I've read cautions about trying to save this simple stop bath. Best to make as needed and use one-shot.

This is also the formula that I use. I bough 30 pounds of citric acid on eBay for about $70 with shipping. Basically a lifetime supply.
